Catherine Tyldesley confesses she can go ‘two or three days’ without speaking to her children when she is away filming
Catherine Tyldesley admits that, while filming, she might not talk to her kids for two or three consecutive days.

As a dedicated follower, I can tell you that when I’m on set in Malta, having spent nearly a year and a half there in total, the pace is so rapid that I feel comfortable and at ease.
‘A little bit like it was on Corrie; my head is firmly in work mode. I’m somebody else, I’m not me.
However, upon returning to the hotel in the evening, there’s a quiet stillness… A routine that usually involves bath time for Iris, reading together, or chatting with Alfie about his day no longer occurs. Instead, I find myself alone on the unoccupied bed.
‘I know there’s Zoom, which is wonderful, but it’s not the same.’
Tom mentioned to his spouse, “On certain occasions, we might skip using Zoom for two or three days, which could appear unusual to others.
‘The reality is, you’ll sometimes want to ring Iris and she’s too busy playing with her dollies.’
Catherine stated: “We have a sense of when it’s appropriate, and since I’m usually on a different time zone from you, I might need some flexibility regarding timing.
When shooting on the cruise ship, it becomes a hassle as the Wi-Fi is inconsistent and we jump between different time zones.
In a challenging moment on set, I often find myself expressing, “Everyone here asks me if I’m okay and if I miss my children. My response is usually, ‘I simply yearn to smell them.’
‘I find myself experiencing an odd sensation, similar to wanting to hug and inhale the scent from my own arms when they become slightly awkward.’
Tom joked: ‘It’s funny, as I just want to launch them out of the window some days!’
From 2011 to 2018, Catherine took on the role of Eva Price in Coronation Street. During this time, she became a mother to Alfie in 2015. She tied the knot with Tom in 2016 and added Iris to their family in April 2022.
