Zorro, America’s original superhero who first appeared over a century ago, is getting a new TV series. This reboot stars Oscar winner Jean Dujardin (known for films like The Artist and The Wolf of Wall Street), and features a unique twist: Zorro is now a middle-aged man serving as the mayor of his town.
MHz Choice, a streaming service available in the U.S., Canada, and France, has acquired the rights to the new eight-episode series Zorro and will begin streaming it on June 30, 2026 (according to Variety). The series stars Jean Dujardin as Zorro, and this version of the classic character features some updates.
Okay, so I just heard about this new take on Zorro and it sounds really cool! Apparently, they’re making Don Diego de la Vega a French guy, and he’s suddenly become the mayor of Los Angeles back in 1821. It’s going to be interesting seeing him try to run the city and still be the masked hero we all know and love. The plot promises all the usual Zorro action while he juggles being a politician – I can’t wait to see how it plays out!
With the city struggling financially because of a selfish local businessman named Don Emmanuel (Eric Elmosnino), Diego realizes he needs to become Zorro again. After 20 years, he puts on the mask and must balance his life as the masked hero with his duties as mayor, all while keeping his secret from his wife, Gabriella (Audrey Dana).
