The beloved John Galsworthy novel series known as “The Forsyte Saga” is set to return with a fresh reboot following an significant upgrade.
Despite not having premiered its first season, the series “The Forsytes,” featuring Millie Gibson known from “Doctor Who,” has already been granted the green light for a second season.
Currently, the earlier version featuring Gina McKee from “Line of Duty” can be streamed on both Netflix and ITVX at this time.
As a devoted fan, I’d like to share that during its run from 2002 to 2003, the cast of “The Forsyte Saga” was graced by some familiar faces. Among them were Damian Lewis, known for his role in “Homeland”, Rupert Graves from “Sherlock”, Ioan Gruffudd, who starred in “Bad Boys: Ride or Die”, and Ben Miles, a cast member of the recent series “Andor”.
The narrative centers around the affluent title characters, particularly focusing on the pompous Soames. Rather than treating Irene as a cherished spouse, he sees her more as an acquired asset, valuing her less as a person and more as property.
The story revolves around a prosperous family, zeroing in on Soames, who is known for his arrogance. Instead of viewing Irene, his wife, as a beloved companion, he regards her as an object of possession rather than a fellow human being.

When news of her affair breaks, the family is engulfed in scandal.
In the initial season of “Line of Duty,” McGee portrayed Jackie Laverty. Later, she assumed the role of Irene in ITV’s version – a character previously acted by Gibson in Channel 5’s recent remake.

The new edition’s launch date hasn’t been set yet, but it’s anticipated to debut later this year. Filming for the upcoming season 2 is already underway in Bristol.
In addition to Gibson, the rebooted version will feature Joshua Orpin, Francesca Annis, Jack Davenport, Stephen Moyer, Tuppence Middleton, and Eleanor Tomlinson. The novels by Galsworthy are being adapted for screenplay by Debbie Horsfield.
In the United Kingdom, you can now stream “The Forsyte Saga” on both Netflix and ITVX. The series, titled “The Forsytes,” is set to air on channel 5.
