Rapper Stormzy has revealed that he will star as the main character in an upcoming movie, which is being jointly produced by Apple.
In a upcoming film titled “Big Man,” the renowned rapper Michael ‘Stormzy’ Omari steps into the leading role. This project is helmed by director Aneil Karia, who gained fame for his Oscar-winning short movie “The Long Goodbye,” which featured and was co-written by Riz Ahmed.
On Instagram, Stormzy publicly announced the launch of his own production company, Merky. This creative venture has already secured agreements with Netflix for multiple projects, as reported by Deadline.
For quite some time, we’ve been developing this project secretly: a stage for genuine, brave, and impactful British narratives. That’s what Stormzy shared on Instagram regarding Merky and Big Man.
At #Merky, we provide a platform for unique and unconventional artwork, an organic expansion of our mission to share our narratives, amplify authentic voices, and offer visibility to those deserving of recognition.
He stated, “It’s a pleasure to unveil our inaugural official creation: ‘Big Man‘, a joint production with Apple that will be available starting June 18th. This short movie is skillfully directed by the renowned filmmaker Aneil Karia.
The rapper expressed, “I truly hope you enjoy ‘Big Man’ just as passionately as we poured our hearts into creating it. It embodies the exhilaration, the zest, and the fearless determination of youth, and I wish it ignites your imagination to aspire for greatness.
He eventually expressed gratitude to Karia for her visionary leadership as director, and also acknowledged Klevis Brahja and Jaydon Eastman, his fellow actors.
“My two guys who were nothing short of brilliant. I’m excited to see what you both do next!”
Tenzman, also known as rapper Stormzy, was stuck creatively until he crossed paths with two teenagers living in his London neighborhood. Inspiringly, he motivated these young individuals to aim high and dream beyond their current circumstances.
Big Man will be available to watch on YouTube on 18 June.
