The actor from “Last Man Standing” portraying Abby may shift many viewers’ perspectives when fresh episodes are released. However, I can only wish she’s not battling an anxiety stemming from filming for Season 2 on set.
Discussing with her ex-colleague from “Justified,” Walton Goggins, for a Vanity Fair interview, the 28-year-old actress shared a particular fear she hopes won’t haunt my dreams as well. In her own words:
“I expressed a specific apprehension that I don’t want to see festering in my nightmares.
It’s possible these actions are routine for you, given the intensity of many scenes in The Last of Us. Often, I found myself running from large mobs of people, which left me feeling apprehensive about tripping and getting trampled by them.
In the chilling events of Season 2, one particularly unnerving scene unfolded from my perspective as I scrambled to evade the infected horde. This occurred in Episode 2, where I found myself desperately hiding behind a chain-link fence. Unfortunately, this brief respite was short-lived, as a relentless mass of monsters, resembling rabid beasts, piled onto me, nearly crushing me beneath their weight.
I Didn’t Mind The Last Of Us Season 2 Cliffhanger, But One Other Moment Seriously Irked Me
In the finale of The Last of Us, I found Kaitlyn Dever’s character Abby to be incredibly cool, and I recently learned about the personal connection behind her iconic jacket and other aspects of the costume design.
In my perspective, that very scene extracted from the video game resonates deeply, as it can be easily interpreted as a profound fear. Just contemplating myself being in such a predicament, surrounded by ordinary individuals who might unknowingly inflict harm, sends shivers down my spine. It’s not about the monstrous entities; it’s about the potential danger that lurks among us, the ordinary people, which makes this scenario so chilling.
Additionally, Dever mentioned a few other occasions during the making of Season 2 that were quite unsettling to portray on screen, as he put it.
I found myself pursued by an extravagant, costly camera setup, which was quite terrifying. With plenty of cable work involved and my fear of heights kicking in, I was genuinely uneasy.
I’m pleased that she managed to conquer her apprehensions to produce some exceptional TV moments, and I believe fellow gamers would concur that she’s merely scratched the surface of Abby’s tale. Granted, murdering Joel is a significant event, but it probably warrants more recognition than just being the tip.
As a passionate cinephile, I’m keeping my fingers crossed that Kaitlyn Dever manages to bring Walton Goggins on board for Season 3, perhaps even just for a fleeting moment, reminiscent of Joe Pantoliano’s poignantly bleak scene in Episode 206. Though we may have to exercise patience, as the production team has shared that the upcoming horror series won’t resume until later this year, leaving us in suspense about who else might grace our screens as guest stars.
