Ananda Lewis dead at 52: Former MTV VJ battled stage four breast cancer after refusing double mastectomy
At the age of 52, Ananda Lewis passed away following a prolonged struggle of almost seven years against breast cancer.
On Wednesday, June 11, it was reported that the ex-MTV VJ, who was famously recognized for The Ananda Lewis Show and her contributions to The Insider, tragically passed away, as stated in a Facebook post by her sister Lakshmi Emory.
Lakshmi posted a monochrome picture of Ananda, accompanied by this message: “She is liberated, cradled in His celestial embrace. May you grant her peace, God [prayer emoji]
In the latter part of 2020, Ananda shared with her supporters that she had quietly fought stage 3 breast cancer over a period of two years.
She also admitted that she’d avoided getting regular mammograms due to fear of radiation exposure.
In October, it was confirmed by Ananda that her cancer had progressed to stage IV following her decision to forgo a double mastectomy during the initial diagnosis.
She informed CNN that her initial intention was to leave the tumor within me and explore alternative methods for removing it naturally.
However, once Ananda’s tumor spread (metastasized), she understood that perhaps she ought to have undergone the life-saving surgery.
