No, Dr. Phil wasn’t present at L.A. ICE raids, but he taped interview with Trump’s border czar
In the midst of immigration raids happening throughout Los Angeles, former daytime talk show host Dr. Phil McGraw and his television network MeritTV are reporting on these events and the subsequent demonstrations taking place within the city.
On Friday, McGraw interviewed Tom Homan, who was overseeing border raids at the White House. A segment of this interview is now available on MeritTV’s website, with more parts scheduled to air starting Monday at 5 p.m. PT. According to an email response, these additional segments were recorded a day before and a day after the L.A. operation. MeritTV, which debuted towards the end of last year, is primarily known for airing “Dr. Phil Primetime,” a show where McGraw discusses news events and interviews guests like New York City Mayor Eric Adams and businessman Rick Caruso.
Previously, the TV host joined ICE officers during raids, even in Chicago earlier this year where they recorded arrests. But on this occasion in Los Angeles, he himself was not present during the raid, yet crews from his network managed to film the enforcement activity over the weekend.

California
As a movie buff putting pen to paper, I find myself preparing to take legal action against President Trump, due to his decision to deploy the National Guard in California. This move comes on the heels of tense encounters over the weekend between authorities and demonstrators across Los Angeles. It’s a dramatic turn of events that feels more like a plot twist than reality.
MeritTV news teams covered an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operation in Los Angeles on Friday, according to a representative for the network. To avoid creating any unnecessary tension, Dr. Phil McGraw opted not to attend or embed himself, unlike during his previous coverage in Chicago.
The interview took place at the downtown branch of the Homeland Security Investigations office. ICE chose not to provide comments regarding the interview or if McGraw had prior knowledge about the upcoming raids.
Previously, McGraw had hosted his own talk show that ran for 21 seasons until 2023. At that time, CBS Media Ventures, which distributed the show, announced that McGraw wished to broaden his reach in a fresh endeavor due to “serious worries about the American family.” During the 2024 election, he appeared at Trump’s rally at Madison Square Garden, but stated it wasn’t an endorsement. Nevertheless, he has been supportive of the administration’s stance on immigration and was recently appointed to the president’s commission for religious freedom.
