David Beckham reveals that he has his eyes on the England manager job just days after it was announced that he is to be awarded with a knighthood
Football legend David Beckham, soon to be knighted, harbors a new ambition: managing the English national team.
At age 50, Beckham, soon to receive a knighthood from King Charles, has steered clear of management roles post-retirement. Instead, he’s taken on the role of owner for Inter Miami CF in Major League Soccer and is also a co-owner of Salford City.
However, the previous team captain expresses confidence in his abilities as a ‘competent coach’, and openly praises the soft-spoken style of ex-England manager, Sir Gareth Southgate, which he believes contributed significantly to the team’s achievements.
On his CBS show, David expressed that the one position he could envision himself holding is overseeing our nation.
‘I could manage England in 10 years time. That’s what it’ll take.’
I don’t feel ready to immediately take on that role, as I believe it’s important to honor the dedication of those managers who have been in it for years and truly earned their positions.

I appreciate the impact Gareth has made, particularly since he’s been with us from our youth days – under-21 level. This is one of the reasons our team has thrived under his leadership.
‘They trusted him, they loved the way he worked.
They admired his soft-spoken leadership style, especially during challenging times when he managed to rebuild the nation’s support. He was recently knighted, which is fitting given his significant contributions to our country, our national sports team, and the enthusiasm of our fan base.
‘Because our fans, in my opinion, are the best in the world.’
In the previous year, it became known that Thomas Tuchel would take over permanently as the England manager, with Gareth Southgate and interim manager Lee Carsley being replaced by him.
David remembered that over the past few years, fan enthusiasm seemed low, resulting in empty seats at Wembley Stadium during games.
It was disheartening not to have a packed Wembley Stadium at times, as our supporters were always present, regardless of who we faced. Their absence and then Gareth reintroducing it brought a renewed sense of pride and happiness among them.
David could have joined the coaching ranks of United, AC Milan, LA Galaxy and Real Madrid.
‘To be honest I never wanted to be a coach.
‘I love coaching kids in the academy. That’s my real passion.
To be honest, I’ve never aspired to become a manager or a coach at this level. Yet, I believe I might possess the necessary skills to excel as a coach, though I’m unsure. What I know is that I do have the relevant knowledge, but my experience in coaching has been limited so far.

David, who amassed a fortune of over $100 million through endorsements, businesses, and modeling, asserted that football executives predicted him to become a future manager back in 2010.
He shared: ‘Upon our return from the World Cup in Germany, I was sidelined as I injured my achilles while playing for AC Milan. During this flight back, someone representing the FA approached me and proposed, “Complete your qualifications, as we wish for you to manage England.”‘
Beck’s inspiration often comes from his close friend, Thierry Henry, who led the French team to triumph at the Olympics.
1) It was wonderful for me to witness Thierry’s performance at the Olympics. Seeing a friend excel like that was truly inspiring.
‘A legendary athlete, renowned for his skill, later coached his nation at the Olympics with great success. Witnessing this was deeply moving. Truly a remarkable instance.’
When asked if he was considering coaching for Inter Miami after securing Lionel Messi, he expressed that he desired to play alongside him rather than coach him. He added that the idea of being his coach was intimidating and he couldn’t fathom himself giving him instructions. Imagining such a scenario? It’s hard to even contemplate!
It has been made known that David will receive a knighthood on the King’s Birthday Honours List, following years of being overlooked.
On Saturday, when the list is revealed, he will officially become a Knight (or “Sir”), while his wife, Victoria Beckham, formerly of the Spice Girls, will be recognized as a lady (or “Lady Beckham”).
Previously captained England, now adorned with tattoos, recently engaged in a conversation with King Charles III at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in London. It’s said that their relationship has strengthened in recent times due to their mutual passion for gardening.
The 76-year-old ruler expressed congratulations to the ex-England soccer player during his milestone celebrations, inquiring if they had already given him the gift.
Outside the Highgrove stand managed by the King’s Foundation, a charity associated with the monarchy, Beckham, serving as an ambassador for the organization, affectionately welcomed the sovereign, saying, “It’s truly delightful to have you here, Your Majesty.
Remarkably, it seemed like Charles was querying if they had indeed sent the birthday present that he and his spouse had chosen.
‘You got it, didn’t you?’ he asked.
‘It was incredible,’ beamed Beckham. ‘Thank you, it was very kind.’
Camilla added: ‘Nice to see you again, glad you got the roses.’
David, who’s been passionate about all things royal since his days at school in Chingford, has yearned for a knighthood for quite some time. It seemed that opportunity was knocking when he was honored with an OBE by the late queen in 2003.
