Cynthia Erivo commands attention in glitzy rose gold corset dress as she graces the red carpet ahead of hosting the Tony Awards
On Sunday night in New York City, I ensured that the spotlight was firmly upon me as I elegantly walked the red carpet at the 78th annual Tony Awards, a moment I won’t forget anytime soon.
The Wicked star, 38, opted for a glitzy rose gold dress which featured an extravagant corset.
As a fashion aficionado, I’d describe this stunning ensemble as follows: In the first part, an off-shoulder bodice adorned with intricate silver and black embellishments catches the eye. Then, the design gracefully transitions into a sleek, shimmering pencil skirt that flows elegantly, completing the look.
The actress paired the dress with a chunky necklace and her usual array of multiple ear piercings.
This year, the ceremony will take place at the revered Radio City Music Hall in New York City, where Cynthia is serving as the host.

In addition, the UK was also represented by Tom Felton, known for his role as Harry Potter, who appeared cheerful and smartly dressed in a suit.
At the event, Andrew Lloyd Webber and his spouse Madeleine were present as well. The composer was eagerly anticipating that Nicole Scherzinger would win the award for Best Leading Actress, for her performance in Sunset Boulevard.
The three-hour program, kicking off at 8 PM Eastern Time and 5 PM Pacific Time, can either be watched live on CBS television or streamed online via Paramount+, which requires a Showtime subscription. Those with a basic Paramount+ membership will have the opportunity to catch up on the show the day after its broadcast.
This year features major star power in the lead actor and actress categories.
George Clooney is vying for the leading actor award for his highly successful stage adaptation of “Good Night, And Good Luck,” which he directed, co-wrote, and acted in, while Mia Farrow faces competition from Sarah Snook of Succession and Sadie Sink of Stranger Things in the lead actress category for a play.
In the lead actor for a musical category, Darren Criss and Jonathan Groff bring their stellar fame, while Megan Hilty, Nicole Scherzinger, and Broadway icon Audra McDonald are prominent figures in the lead actress for a musical category.
Known primarily for his work in movies and TV shows like Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, Bob Odenkirk has recently been nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Play. This recognition is for his portrayal in the revival of David Mamet’s timeless play about desperation, Glengarry Glen Ross.
This year, among the presenters we have Charli D’Amelio, Michelle Williams, Jean Smart from the show Hacks, LaTanya Richardson Jackson, and Lea Salonga – all currently gracing the stages of Broadway.

1. Kristin Chenoweth, the well-known theater performer, is also scheduled to appear, while Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter are planning a Bill and Ted reunion for the stage prior to their rendition of Samuel Beckett’s Waiting For Godot. The cast of Glee, Lea Michele, will additionally share the stage with Aaron Tveit during the event.

As we approach the 2025 ceremony, three musical productions – Buena Vista Social Club, Death Becomes Her, and Perhaps Joyful – are currently in the lead, having received 10 nominations apiece.
The Buena Vista Social Club draws inspiration from the famous Cuban band with the same name, whose self-titled album became a hit in 1997 and was featured in the critically-acclaimed film by Wim Wenders, released in 1999, sharing the same title.
The movie “Death Becomes Her” is a reimagining of the enchanting dark comedy directed by Robert Zemeckis in 1992, featuring the talents of Meryl Streep, Goldie Hawn, and Bruce Willis.

Contrary to some musicals which are based on pre-existing music and movies, “Maybe Happy” is an original Korean science fiction-romance story. It tells the tale of two robotic helpers who fall in love, although the limited duration of their existence complicates any potential future plans for them.
Among the nominated productions this year, I find it intriguing that Dead Outlaw: John Proctor, Sunset Blvd., and The Hills of California have each garnered seven Tony nominations apiece. Interestingly, Floyd Collins, Justin in Time, Purpose, and The Picture of Dorian Gray are all tied with six nominations each as well.
In addition to Dead Outlaw and Operation Mincemeat: A New Musical, there are other productions in contention for the Best Musical award. These include English, The Hills of California, John Proctor Is The Villain, Oh, Mary!, and Purpose. Similarly, these plays – English, The Hills of California, John Proctor Is The Villain, Oh, Mary!, and Purpose – are also competing for the Best Play category.
Purpose and English have already been honored with Pulitzer Prizes.
This year, the nominations for plays feature Eureka Day, Romeo + Juliet, Our Town by Thornton Wilder, and David Henry Hwang’s Yellow Face. For musical revivals, we have Floyd Collins, Gypsy, Pirates! The Penzanze Musical, and Sunset Blvd. on the list.
This year’s performances will showcase both the brand-new and rejuvenated musical nominees, along with “Just In Time” and “Real Women Have Curves,” which didn’t secure nominations for Best Musical or Revival but were recognized with significant other nominations instead.
2025’s Tony Awards are planning to honor the past by paying tribute to Hamilton, marking its 10th anniversary, with the original cast coming together for a special live performance.
Miranda is joined by Leslie Odom Jr., Phillipa Soo, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Daveed Diggs, Ariana DeBose, Jonathan Groff, and Christopher Jackson – these talented individuals who were part of the initial cast.
