Wicked spoilers follow.

Jonathan Bailey has revealed a change for Elphaba and Fiyero in Wicked 2.

In the forthcoming continuation, named “Wicked: For Good“, we find the lead character making a comeback as the captivating prince. He’ll be joined on screen by Cynthia Erivo (playing Elphaba) and Ariana Grande (portraying Glinda).

What to Read Next

Elphaba, once maligned as the Wicked Witch of the West, resides in seclusion deep within the Ozian woods. There, she secretly carries on her crusade for the liberation of silenced creatures and persistently strives to unveil the truth she possesses concerning the Wizard.

In a climactic moment, as a hostile crowd gathers against the Wicked Witch, Glinda and Elphaba must unite one last time. Their unique friendship has become crucial to their destinies, necessitating genuine understanding and compassion between them if they are to transform themselves, and ultimately Oz, for the better.

In an interview with GQ, Bailey hinted that the upcoming movie will be more ominous than its previous installment. He mentioned, “I have a feeling it’s going to delve into some dark political territory as well.” Additionally, he suggested that Fiyero’s storyline will significantly develop in the sequel, implying a major character transformation by the end.

The musical “Wicked,” based on its stage counterpart, will continue its storyline with a sequel, focusing on Act II. As for “For Good,” as stated by Bailey, it promises additional material to provide an enriching experience for the viewers.

In the play, when [Fiyero] departs with Elphaba towards her dwelling, which is depicted as a pit filled with dry ice on stage, the audience simply goes along with this idea. However, in the movie, the production teams, including Cynthia and I, have put considerable thought and effort into creating a more visually appealing and well-executed representation of Elphaba’s living space.

Additionally, the narrative will delve into the relationship between Glinda and Fiyero, emphasizing the significant sacrifices Fiyero makes as he follows his heart’s guidance.

According to Bailey, Fiyero makes sacrifices and effectively uses his leadership over the troops… However, he couldn’t help but chuckle, remarking, “It’s hard to believe we’re discussing this so seriously.
