Jurassic World Rebirth Hits Franchise Milestone With First-Ever NYC Scene

In the upcoming movie “Jurassic World: Reborn,” they’ve disclosed the four primary shooting spots, a mix of familiar nations and an ancient city. The forthcoming installment in the “Jurassic World” series is expected to reignite fans’ passion for dinosaurs by unveiling a secret new island that served as the location for the original Jurassic Park’s research facility. Although most of the plot unfolds on this island, promotional materials for “Jurassic World: Reborn” have highlighted breathtaking landscapes and locations filmed in beautiful countries across the globe.

5 years following the events of “Jurassic World: Dominion,” the movie “Jurassic World: Rebirth” unfolds, focusing on Zora Bennett (Scarlett Johansson) as she leads a team in search of DNA samples from the three largest dinosaurs residing on land, sea, and air. The film features an impressive ensemble cast, with Johansson joined by Jonathan Bailey, Rupert Friend, Mahershala Ali, Luna Blaise, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, and Philippine Vega.

4 Major Filming Locations in Jurassic World: Rebirth

As a film enthusiast, I was thrilled to learn about the diverse locales that brought Jurassic World: Rebirth to life. The behind-the-scenes featurette unveiled four primary locations where the movie was meticulously crafted: bustling New York City, picturesque Malta, the historic United Kingdom, and enchanting Thailand. Each of these breathtaking destinations played a crucial role in shaping the cinematic experience that is Jurassic World: Rebirth.

New York

Filming Jurassic World: Rebirth in New York City is a significant moment for the Jurassic Park franchise, as it’s the first time any part of the series has been shot or set within New York City.

From the preview images and clips provided in the behind-the-scenes footage, it appears that the movie, “Jurassic World: Rebirth,” will initially showcase scenes filmed in New York following the terrifying opening sequence featuring the D-Rex.

The main events will likely revolve around Martin Krebs’ (Rupert Friend) endeavor to enlist Zora Bennett for a mission aimed at discovering a cure for humanity. However, there’s a twist: they require the DNA of colossal dinosaurs for this task. At first, Zora might appear hesitant about participating. Yet, Krebs might be able to convince her with an attractive incentive if she successfully completes the mission.

Malta

As a die-hard Jurassic Park fan, I’ve always felt a special connection with Malta. After all, it was here that some pivotal moments from both Chris Pratt’s Jurassic World: Dominion and Netflix’s Jurassic World: Chaos Theory unfolded. Remember the illicit dinosaur black market? That’s right, Malta was its hub before the CIA and the Dinosaur Protection Group swooped in to put a stop to it. Quite an adventure, isn’t it?

There’s a possibility that the storyline of “Rebirth” might delve into the past of the underground market. Meanwhile, the events unfolding in Malta could serve as an introduction to Mahershala Ali’s character, Duncan Kincaid, who is a close friend and trusted companion of Zora.

Additional exclusive footage from the making-of reveals that the cast and team predominantly shot scenes underwater, hinting at an extensive display of the Mosasaurus and Spinosaurus water chase scene being featured in Malta’s coastal locations.

According to Discover Wildlife, filming occurred in Malta Film Studios in Kalkara.

United Kingdom

Jurassic World: Rebirth‘s cast and crew also filmed scenes in the United Kingdom (UK).

According to Discover Wildlife’s report, many of the scenes shown were actually filmed at Sky Studios Elstree in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, which is where most of the movie was produced. Interestingly, parts of the river raft sequence with a more dangerous Tyrannosaurus Rex were also shot in the UK. It’s likely that Sky Studios Elstree was used as the setting for InGen’s laboratory, where the Distortus Rex (D-Rex) was created.

Thailand

In my critique of “Jurassic World: Rebirth,” I must commend the filmmakers for capturing some breathtaking footage across various Thai cities and national parks. The verdant jungles and serene rivers of this beautiful country provided a striking setting for the hidden island featured in the movie, where our protagonist Zora and her team found themselves face-to-face with a plethora of fearsome dinosaurs. Among these behemoths were the colossal Titanosaurus, an intriguing new Velociraptor, and the dreadful D-Rex – creatures that added a heart-pounding edge to the cinematic experience.

According to a report from Discover Wildlife, the team behind “Rebirth” captured footage at Khao Phanom Bencha National Park, Hat Chao Mai National Park, and Ao Phang Nga National Park.

In a natural and easy-to-read manner: The dense jungles of Thailand perfectly embodied the thrilling yet breathtaking ambiance of a prehistoric dinosaur island, making it an ideal setting for shooting the movie.
