Love Island USA cast member breaks silence after being kicked off show due to past racist slurs
Former Love Island USA contestant, Yulissa Escobar, has finally spoken out following her dismissal from the program due to her previous usage of offensive racial language.
27-year-old Escobar exited the reality TV show outside of the cameras’ view during the second episode itself, prior to when the remaining contestants awoke in the morning.
Videos showing Escobar using a controversial term in conversations about past partners have appeared on Reddit, sparking outrage among fans who expressed their displeasure by vowing to vote for her elimination at the earliest chance on her Instagram.
Now, Escobar has turned to Instagram to express his regret for employing derogatory terms in a post, which he titled: “Admitting my errors, expressing my sincerity.
She wrote: ‘First, I want to apologize for using a word I had no right in using.
‘Podcast clips from years ago have recently resurfaced, and I want to address it directly.
In those videos, I mistakenly employed a term that I should have avoided altogether – a racial slur. I didn’t realize the significance, the history, or the pain associated with it at the time. My intention wasn’t to offend or hurt, but I can see now that the consequences of my actions were undeniable. The impact of that word is profound and long-lasting, as it is deeply connected to generations of suffering. It is not appropriate for me to use such a term.
At the time, I was chatting without much thought or analysis behind my words. However, just because I wasn’t deliberate doesn’t mean what I said wasn’t wrong. The reality is, I wasn’t aware of the error in my ways back then, but now I am. I’ve taken the time to ponder, educate myself, and grow from that experience.
Over time, I’ve undergone significant transformations, not just in my speech but also in my demeanor, presence, and respect for others’ experiences. Growth entails acknowledging when we were mistaken, even if it feels awkward, and opting to advance with humility and responsibility.
Additional false claims have been spreading around, statements or expressions that do not align with who I truly am or my genuine feelings. I feel compelled to make it clear: these are my thoughts and my words. I prefer to express myself personally as I stand firmly behind every action I take. Disregard the false statements. This is my unequivocal declaration. Here I am, communicating directly with you.
‘To those who are disappointed or offended, I understand and I apologize.
‘I am sorry.
At sunrise, Iain Stirling, the host, revealed on the show that Yulissa had departed from the villa.
Yulissa was paired up with Ace Greene who is now single following her exit.

One Redditor commented, ‘How on earth did producers allow this to pass unnoticed? There’s no way they didn’t catch it.’
A different user commented: ‘Indeed, if members of this community managed to discover this within a short period, it’s clear that the casting team SHOULD HAVE ALREADY FOUND IT. This suggests either they aren’t paying close enough attention to their potential candidates or they’re deliberately overlooking such matters. It’s hard to say which is more concerning.’
For the Season 7 cast on the island, we have: Chelley Bissainthe, Huda Mustafa, Belle-A Walker, Olandria Carthen, Greene, and Taylor Williams left.
The comments on Yulissa’s Instagram will be a surprise to her when she gets back from Fiji.
One fan exclaimed, laughing, ‘Yulissa is no longer at the villa!’, while another cheered, ‘We’ve won! She’s gone!'”
Or, in a more casual tone:
“A fan cracked up and said, ‘Yulissa has bailed from the villa!’, while another was ecstatic, announcing, ‘Victory! She’s outta there!’
The sentiment persisted along similar lines as someone else remarked: “I admire Love Island for its commercial aspect, and I’m fond of it.
Previously, I was eagerly sharing my enthusiasm for the show on my Instagram, only a day prior to its start.
In a single update, she expressed that this is her no-holds-barred year and she’s making choices for herself, whether it’s loud, quiet, sweet, or bold – whatever suits her mood.
In other Love Island-related posts, Yulissa shilled for votes to stay in the Villa.

Yulissa isn’t the only Love Island USA contestant to face controversy.
Contestant Austin Shepard from Season 7 has stirred up some debate due to his preference for TikTok posts that back Donald Trump.

Unlike Yulissa, Austin has remained in the villa.
Among the females still competing in the villa are Chelley Bissainthe, Huda Mustafa, Belle-A Walker, and Olandria Carthen.
