Freakier Friday Trailer Wins Me Over and Has Me Excited for the Summer Release
Regarding the 2025 summer movies scheduled for release, my enthusiasm for “Freakier Friday” is undeniably high, yet I can’t shake off a feeling of apprehension that it might fall short of expectations. Despite this, I’m determined to watch it regardless. However, I must admit I’ve been mentally preparing myself for a less-than-satisfying experience, particularly after discovering that in this remake, Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis’s characters will be body swapping with two teenagers instead of each other.
However, the new trailer has melted away my past worries.
The New Freakier Friday Trailer Finally Really Sold Me On The Sequel
Disney unveiled a fresh trailer for the upcoming film “Freakier Friday” on Friday, and it’s ignited my anticipation. Initially, I was puzzled by Jamie Lee Curtis resembling Laurie Strode from the “Halloween” films instead of sporting her usual pixie cut in the first trailer for “Freaky Friday 2”, but this latest glimpse at the movie has me feeling optimistic.
It’s great that the trailer provides more clarity about the storyline. In it, Lindsay Lohan’s character Anne is planning to wed Manny Jacinto’s character, and together they will bring their families together. However, their daughters, Harper played by Julia Butters in Lohan’s family, and Lily portrayed by Sophia Hammons in Jacinto’s family, seem to have a rocky relationship.
In a twist that feels like something straight out of a magical movie, I find myself swapped with Harper’s mom and grandma! Now, we’ve got this incredible chance to shake things up between Harper’s parents. It’s like we’ve been given the remote control to their lives, and let’s just say, we’re considering pressing some buttons!
The initial trailer seemed to suggest that the body-swapping element felt more like a novelty than an integral part of the narrative. However, the latest trailer presents the idea with tangible conflicts and consequences, making it more compelling and engaging for me.

I’m All In On Lindsay Lohan And Jamie Lee Curtis’s Freakier Friday Antics
For me, the most memorable part of the story unfolds when we discover how character Jake, played by Chad Michael Murray, becomes entwined in the plot. The teenagers devise an unusual plan to split up their parents: they aim to reunite Anne with her first love. I found myself thoroughly enjoying the scene where Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis are attempting to win over Jake, who appears to work at a record store, but he mistakenly believes she’s experiencing a “seizure.
Later on, as they attempted to reassemble, I found it amusing that Lohan’s character seemed concerned they had been away for an extended period; he would assume she was occupied with something private.
Additionally, there’s a moment when the duo converse, a youngster refers to one of them as “cute”, only for an elder to recall that person is his former therapist (Tess). This cleverly reminds us of the initial scene, making it quite engaging.
The recently released trailer, available on YouTube as well, makes it clear to me that much attention and detail is being given to this sequel. Have you spotted Curtis concealing her face using a Britney Spears vinyl record? It’s an ingenious Easter egg, subtly referencing the moment when Jake sang “Oops!… I Did It Again” in the original film.
Reminiscing about such youthful escapades from teens brings back fond memories of the original, making me eagerly anticipate the upcoming release on August 8, knowing full well it’ll be a blast!
