The call to resurrect “The Wheel of Time” has hit a major milestone, sparking discussions about the possibility of its return. In May, Amazon confirmed the cancellation of “The Wheel of Time” after three seasons, wrapping up the screen adaptation of Robert Jordan’s extensive fantasy series with much of the story yet untold. Despite being met with mixed reactions from fans, especially those familiar with the novels, it’s clear that the show has garnered a dedicated and fervent fanbase.
Before the series was even cancelled, with doubts lingering about a possible fourth season, enthusiasts of “The Wheel of Time” initiated a petition to reinstate the show. This petition has since achieved a notable milestone, amassing over 100,000 signatures, and currently stands at more than 131,000. This outpouring of devotion is a reaction to the series’ exceptional third season, which was universally acclaimed by critics and viewers, boasting significantly higher scores on Rotten Tomatoes and other review platforms.
What The Wheel Of Time’s Fan Petition Means
Petitions Have Worked Before, But The TV Landscape Has Changed

100,000+ signatures is an amazing showcase of enthusiasm and dedication, yet it’s uncertain whether Amazon is paying attention to this or if it holds any influence in their corporate decisions. Historically, TV shows like Friday Night Lights, Community, and even Star Trek: The Original Series have been rescued by petitions or overwhelming fan letters. For instance, these iconic series were able to secure another season and spin-off films thanks to the fervor of their fans. However, it’s important to acknowledge that the television industry has experienced significant transformations.
As a movie enthusiast, I’ve noticed that streaming giants like Amazon are in a constant race to churn out content, dreaming of the next big hit akin to “Stranger Things” or “Game of Thrones.” For instance, “The Wheel of Time,” although costly, didn’t quite capture the audience it aimed for. It needed more buzz, and the lukewarm reception of its first two seasons might have hindered it from amassing the required viewership.
Our Take On The Wheel Of Time’s Fan Petition
Let’s Hope For The Star Trek Route

Initially, it was thought that Star Trek: The Original Series would end after just two seasons. However, a strong show of fan support extended its run for another season and led to subsequent movies. Similarly, I’ve joined the petition for The Wheel of Time, and while I try not to get my expectations too high, I can’t deny that there’s a possibility Amazon might greenlight a final season, offering some resolution over the unresolved threads from season 3. The show’s future looks uncertain at the moment, but as Robert Jordan wrote in The Eye of the World, “All we can do is watch, learn, and hope.
