PARIVISION’s perfect Pudge proves their power
Among the many impressive characters showcased by PARIVISION, one particularly intriguing standout is the selection of Pudge and the unique support choices made by 9Class.
In casual Dota 2 games, Pudge is often a popular choice among players. Yet, he’s rarely used in professional matches, except when team PARIVISION employs him. Although it’s fun to recall Natus Vincere’s unique Pudge strategies during The International tournaments from the past, times have definitely changed. Nevertheless, it’s clear that team PARIVISION holds a soft spot for Pudge and other less common support characters.
Why exactly does Pudge fit well into PARIVISION’s roster of picks? Let’s take a look at how their unconventional drafting strategy contributes to their impressive gameplay.
9Class or masterclass?
As a devoted fan, I can’t help but marvel at the genius of PARIVISION, particularly the brilliance of Edgar “9Class” Naltakian. Though Pudge played a crucial role in some victories during DreamLeague Season 26, it’s his exceptional support play that truly sets him apart. Unlike many others who conform to the meta, 9Class constantly pushes its boundaries, innovating it on his own terms. From mastering the soft support role as Centuar Warrunner to triumphing with Templar Assassin, he’s proven time and again that there’s no hero he can’t conquer.
Is it possible that you might encounter a Terrorblade or a Slark being played as a support character in a game? Well, with his extensive knowledge and experience, 9Class can certainly handle any hero thrown his way, even these unconventional choices. He’s not only skilled but also enjoys the thrill of breaking the mold a bit during playtime.
PARIVISION and the Pudge: Time for a little butchery
In an interesting twist, Parivision surprisingly opted for Pudge in their Dota 2 lineup, a character less commonly picked among the general player base. However, they managed to make it effective. Despite Pudge being a top choice for some, he is seldom seen in the grand scheme of things. In the DreamLeague Season 26, this hero was selected by them on three occasions, making them the only team to pick “the Butcher”.
As a seasoned gamer in Dota 2, I’ve found Pudge to be a formidable champion under my command, but his prowess is contingent on how well I play him. However, during the grand finals game 1, I showcased my mastery over him, outmaneuvering opponents with an impressive 18 assists. My Meat Hook was strategically placed, left, right, and center, and my build for Pudge was tailored to his strengths, resulting in a harmonious synergy that made me unstoppable.
Generally speaking, selecting Pudge during both the initial phases (early game) and middle stages of the game is often an outstanding choice. If players manage to hit their marks accurately, they can secure a substantial advantage early on. This character shines in terms of map control and also serves as an exceptional roamer, ambushing unsuspecting opponents effectively.
Domination throughout the year
This season, PARIVISION has been unstoppable in the EPT tournaments, amassing an impressive total of 24,745 points across five events. They have far outperformed their competitors, leaving the rest of the field in their wake. In July, they will participate in the Esports World Cup 2025. As we approach the event, there may be significant shifts in strategies (meta changes), but one thing is certain: PARIVISION will likely disregard these new strategies yet again.
With an early confirmation to The International 2025, PARIVISION is set for a stellar year ahead. If they manage to hold their ground against 15 competitors at EWC 2025, there’s a strong possibility that they might be considered front-runners to win the Aegis of Champions later in the season.
In an unexpected twist, heroes like Pudge, Templar Assassin, Slark, and Terrorblade aren’t typically associated with supporting roles. However, in the case of 9Class, he discards conventional strategies and overpowers his opponents during PARIVISION. It’s likely we’ll see more of Pudge at EWC, but without a doubt, we can anticipate more unconventional hero choices from the extraordinary support player, 9Class.
