Casey Donovan opens up about wedding plans as she prepares to tie the knot with fiancée Renee Sharples

Casey Donovan has opened up about her upcoming wedding to fiancée Renee Sharples.

37-year-old Australian Idol champion shared the news of her engagement to her long-term companion back in June of the previous year.

On a recent episode of The Project, Casey shared some details about the advancements in the wedding planning process.

On the struggling Channel Ten program, Casey made an appearance to discuss her forthcoming musical, Kimberley Akimbo. It didn’t take long before she was asked about specifics regarding the release date.

Susie Yussef remarked, causing Casey to chuckle, ‘Even if I wasn’t already captivated by your hands and their stunning nails, there’s also an impressive ring on your finger.’

Last year during my two-week break, I traveled to Tasmania and became engaged. This is how the singer responded.

‘So, you’re wedding prepping as well?’ Susie asked, referencing Casey’s current hectic schedule.

Casey playfully replied, “Absolutely not,” implying that the lovebirds have not yet made any definite plans. They are still in the process of planning their relationship.

‘We keep chatting about it and we’re like: ‘do we have something big? Do We have something small?’

Shouldn’t we dive headfirst into this project and host a grand celebration once done? I should mention though, I’ve yet to share this plan with Renee, I truly am sorry.” She whispered this to her fiancé through the camera lens.

Host Max Rushden had a suggestion for the happy couple which seemed to pique Casey’s interest.

He suggested they perform it using roller skates, similar to how Kimberley Akimbo’s cast members wear roller skates as part of their performance to mimic ice skating.

‘I mean, it’s a moment,’ she said.

Casey revealed that she and Renee were planning to tie the knot in June last year.  

Displaying her large diamond ring, the stage actress affectionately embraced her partner while describing in a heartfelt caption the touching scene where Renee knelt proposal-style.

On the Strawberry Moon during the Winter Solstice, Casey penned: ‘On June 24th, my beloved asked me if we could spend eternity living our lives as one.’

The moment I encountered you, ‘home’ transformed from a location into a person. Indeed, you have the spirit of a wanderer, yet there is no one else I would prefer to travel alongside on this incredible journey we call life. And so, I agreed.

Back in September of last year, I, a die-hard fan, couldn’t help but fuel the whispers that Casey, the prodigious talent who captivated Australia at just 16 when she won Australian Idol in 2004, was secretly betrothed to her beloved girlfriend Renee. This intriguing speculation came a year after their hearts serendipitously met during Victoria’s Covid-induced lockdown.

She sparked a buzz when she shared an Instagram video of herself singing a cover of “Stand By Me” as a means to support “R U OK? Day.

While Casey played the guitar, spectators noticed a large diamond ring adorning her finger, causing some to speculate if a wedding might be imminent.

Casey crossed paths with Renee, a professional in paramedic studies, through the dating platform Bumble, and they scheduled virtual meetings via Zoom during the 2020 lockdown period due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Casey shared with Woman’s Day that he had been both anxious and thrilled about meeting Renee, and once they did connect, her conversation was delightful, and she came across as genuinely charming.

When I joined our initial Zoom meeting and discovered Renee had arranged it to mimic a café setting, it was incredibly thoughtful… Plus, the moment she inquired about my preferred coffee type made it even more delightful.

Renee acknowledged that she was familiar with Casey from Australian Idol, but had no prior assumptions about her personality.

She expressed that this development wasn’t something we anticipated happening soon, as it came as a surprise. However, we’re enjoying every moment of living together, and I couldn’t be more content with our situation.

Casey has had quite an active period, as she’s currently shining in the successful staging of both “& Juliet” and “Sister Act.

She also recently partnered with weight loss program Juniper to help to achieve her fitness goals.

In the past few months, Casey has been personally exploring health and fitness matters, and when they contacted him, he shared this with Daily Mail Australia in April.

Furthermore, she mentioned that since medication is currently incorporated into her weight loss plan, she’s seeking additional assistance and guidance.

Given my current situation, where I’m already taking medication, I felt like I was reaching a point where additional assistance would be beneficial. She suggested this.

It happened to arrive perfectly timely, as I was struggling to navigate life while incorporating various weight loss strategies I’d learned elsewhere. Essentially, I was muddling through.
