NS
In the highly acclaimed episode of “Sons of Anarchy,” as per IMDb, three pivotal scenes significantly shifted the narrative for character Jax (Charlie Hunnam) and the motorcycle club. In 2008, creator Kurt Sutter introduced viewers to the crime-drama TV series “Sons of Anarchy,” set in the imaginary town of Charming, California. The show follows the adventures of the SAMCRO club, initially led by President Clay Morrow (Ron Perlman) and Vice President Jax Teller. Over seven seasons, the club encounters various adversaries, makes valuable allies, and experiences many triumphs and tribulations.
The television series Sons of Anarchy commences when Jax stumbles upon his father’s blueprint for the club, revealing his intended design and explaining how SAMCRO had deviated from its original path. As Jax endeavors to actualize his father’s dream, he faces numerous obstacles both within the club and in his private life. Sons of Anarchy offers a mix of heart-wrenching scenes as well as moments that prove rewarding thanks to certain characters’ actions. Its top-rated episode on IMDb is a melting pot of various elements, serving as a pivotal moment in Jax and SAMCRO’s narrative.
“NS” Is Sons of Anarchy’s Highest-Rated Episode
“NS” Is The 13th Episode Of Sons of Anarchy Season 3
The top-rated episode of “Sons of Anarchy,” as per IMDb, is “NS” from Season 3’s finale. This season is particularly intense, following on from the dramatic events of Season 2’s finale where baby Abel was kidnapped by Cameron Hayes and taken to Ireland, while Gemma (Katey Sagal) found herself in trouble after killing Polly Zobelle and being deceived by A.T.F. agent June Stahl (Ally Walker). This character is a major adversary during the first three seasons of “Sons of Anarchy,” and she even attempts to betray Jax in Season 3.
The episode titled “NS” marks the climax of all the tension and turmoil throughout Season 3 of Sons of Anarchy. Given this, it’s no wonder that it holds the top rating on IMDb. In this episode, Jax, Tara (played by Maggie Siff), and the rest of the club rejoice in Abel’s safe return and spend precious moments together. However, before they are torn apart once more, with Jax and Clay heading back to jail, there are a few matters to be tended to. Primarily, they must fulfill their agreement with the IRA by eliminating Jimmy O’Phelan, portrayed by Titus Welliver.
Stahl continues to meddle with the club, striking a deal with Jax that she later uses as an attempt to pit the club against him. Furthermore, Tara discovers letters hidden in Jax’s bag by Maureen Ashby without his knowledge. These letters were written by JT, revealing his suspicions about Clay and Gemma plotting against him and planning his demise, which ultimately proved to be true.
Opie Finally Avenged Donna’s Death In “NS”
Opie’s Wife Was Killed In Sons of Anarchy Season 1
One of the most fulfilling scenes in “NS” (and Sons of Anarchy overall) is when Stahl meets his end. In season 1, Stahl’s deceit to bring down SAMCRO caused Clay to believe that Opie (Ryan Hurst) had betrayed the club. However, this was untrue; Opie was one of SAMCRO’s most devoted members. Mistakingly thinking Opie was a traitor, Clay ordered Tig (Kim Coates) to eliminate him. But at the last moment, circumstances took an unexpected turn. Instead of Opie driving alone, it was his wife, Donna, who was behind the wheel. Tig failed to notice this swap and proceeded with his plan, resulting in Donna’s death instead.
As a supporter looking back on events, I must confess that even though Opie eventually found it in his heart to forgive Tig, deep down he knew that Stahl was the one truly accountable for Donna’s demise. In the thrilling season 3 finale, Opie exacted his long-awaited revenge. Stahl’s desperate ploy to turn the club against Jax crumbled when Jax had already shared their arrangement with the others. United, they hatched a plan, feigning anger at Jax when Stahl eventually double-crossed him.
In the climactic moments, Jax, Clay, Tig, Bobby (Mark Boone Junior), Juice (Theo Rossi), and Happy (David Labrava) were arrested, but Chibs (Tommy Flanagan), Opie, and Kozik sprang into action. They set the plan in motion to ensure that Stahl would pay for his treachery.
With Dayton Callie’s assistance, they manage to isolate Stahl and Jimmy from their group, disarm them both. As Jimmy is taken out of the car, Stahl is compelled to get into the driver’s seat under threat of a gun. Opie then sits in the back seat behind her and instructs her to grip the steering wheel. Stahl cries and pleads for mercy, but Opie reminds her that Donna was left with no other option and “this is what Donna felt” before he ends her life with a shot to the back of the head.
“NS” Saw Jimmy O’Phelan’s Death Thanks To Chibs
Chibs & Jimmy’s Problems Were Personal
As Opie carries out his vengeance, Chibs isn’t far behind with his own justice. Chibs guides Jimmy off the road, fully aware of the impending events. With a premonition of what’s coming, Jimmy requests that Chibs protect their family. Given their complex past, Jimmy and Chibs have a tumultuous relationship marked by Jimmy expelling Chibs from the IRA, exiling him from Ireland, marrying his wife, and adopting his daughter. True to his word, Chibs promises to care for them, then leaves a mark on Jimmy’s face – a mirror image of the scars Jimmy had given Chibs earlier.
Later, Chibs employs the very knives he’d used earlier to fatally stab Jimmy. As Jimmy collapses, Chibs takes advantage of the moment by drawing a symbol associated with the IRA on the car trunk using Jimmy’s blood, making it appear as though the IRA was responsible for the murders. It’s a grim irony that Chibs, who had suffered much at Jimmy’s hands, is the one to end his life. While the deaths of Stahl and Jimmy provided a sense of justice, they only served to bring more complications to SAMCRO.
Stahl & Jimmy’s Deaths Brought More Problems For SAMCRO
SAMCRO Wasn’t Free Of Trouble After That
In essence, the demises of Stahl and Jimmy were mere stopgaps for the club, as they ultimately caused even greater problems down the line. At the onset of Sons of Anarchy season 4, Assistant U.S. Attorney Lincoln Potter (Ray McKinnon) entered Charming with a mission to dismantle SAMCRO. Despite his plan not coming to fruition, he wreaked havoc in the life of one club member, ultimately leading to his demise: Juice’s. Potter manipulated and exploited Juice to gather intel on the club, with Juice eventually attempting suicide and going through a living hell trying to make amends, only to meet his end behind bars.
In the TV series “Sons of Anarchy”, Jimmy’s demise didn’t sever SAMCRO’s ties with the IRA completely. Instead, Galen O’Shay emerged as their new direct contact within the Irish Republican Army. This association resulted in tragic losses among SAMCRO members during season 6. However, Jax Teller managed to eliminate O’Shay and his associates, staging the incident to make it appear as if they had clashed fatally with one another. In the same season, Jax avenged both Clay’s betrayals by taking his life and the deaths of O’Shay and his followers, orchestrating the confrontation to suggest a mutual slaughter.
Tara Learned The Truth Of JT’s Death In “NS”
JT’s Death Was Gemma & Clay’s Biggest Secret
Personally speaking as a movie buff, a pivotal scene that significantly shifted Jax’s narrative in “NS” was when Tara discovered the letters implicating Clay and Gemma in JT’s demise. Once Clay found out about this, it marked a dangerous turn for Tara, leading to a contract being put on her life. However, the hitmen were actually FBI agents orchestrating a kidnap scenario to secure a safe location for interrogation. Regrettably, things took a disastrous turn, and Tara suffered severe injuries to her hand, potentially jeopardizing her medical career as a surgeon.
In the early stages, Tara’s life took a turn for the worse. Her predicament not only impacted her job and relationships with Gemma and Clay, but also led her to offer her services voluntarily at Stockton State Prison. This choice ultimately resulted in a murder that significantly blemished her career and personal life. Sadly, this chain of events eroded Gemma’s trust in Tara, leading to her violent act against Tara in season 6, believing she had betrayed Jax and the club. The episode “NS” played a pivotal role in shaping many significant events within “Sons of Anarchy,” making it a standout and deserving of the highest ratings.
