The upcoming series is penned by Stuart Carolan, who’s known for creating “Love/Hate,” and co-created by Chris Addison, recognized for his work in “Veep” and “The Breeders.” Ella Lily Hyland from “Black Doves” and Aidan Gillen of “Game of Thrones” will headline the show.
The cast is completed by Derry Girls‘ Philippa Dunne and Peaky Blinders‘ Packy Lee.
Regarding our project, Carolan expressed his enthusiasm by stating, “Ever since ‘The Thick of It’, I’ve admired Chris Addison immensely. It’s been an absolute pleasure collaborating with him to breathe life into this wild tale we’re telling.
Addison expressed his excitement: “I’m genuinely thrilled to collaborate with the ingenious and unconventional mind of Stuart Carolan in making this series.
Using Caimh’s brilliant book as our starting point, we’ve evolved it into a suspenseful and tantalizing comedy-thriller.
David Crean, the chief of drama at RTÉ, expressed his enthusiasm: “We’re thrilled to be involved in the making of this extraordinary Irish drama by Stuart Carolan and Chris Addison, following an impressive development phase. The scripts are superb, as is our talented cast.
RTÉ looks forward to working with these outstanding broadcast companions to share the fantastic “Tall Tales & Murder” series with viewers both nationally and globally. Notably, “Tall Tales & Murder” is part of an exceptional lineup of original Irish dramas being produced by RTÉ this year, totaling more than 142 hours of unique drama content.
Eddie Doyle, who oversees content commissioning at BBC Northern Ireland, shared: “Tall Tales & Murder” showcases the deepest, wittiest, and most bizarre storytelling. We’re eager to embark on this exhilarating and rollercoaster journey with viewers, crafted by Stuart Carolan and Chris Addison, true virtuosos of their field.
As a gamer, I’m thrilled about the stellar team we have lined up! Can’t wait to collaborate with Avalon, Metropolitan Pictures, and RTÉ, turning our scripts into an unforgettable on-screen experience.
Regarding “Black Doves”, it’s been officially announced that there will be a second season following the overwhelming success of its debut, which aired in December.
As of now, an official release date hasn’t been announced, but we’re anticipating its premiere on our screens in the year 2026.
After the thrilling climax of the first season, showrunner Joe Barton shared insights into the intense challenges that the production team may encounter during the upcoming second season.
He shared with Deadline, “The pressure has shifted. When working on a series, you want it to perform well for another season. But now that they’ve given us another chance, the pressure lies in wanting it to succeed to honor their trust.
