Man of Tomorrow’s James Gunn Unveils First Set Photo for DCU Movie

A new Man of Tomorrow set photo has been released.

James Gunn’s new Superman movie, continuing the story from the 2025 film, is scheduled to hit US theaters in 2027. David Corenswet will return as Superman/Clark Kent, and Nicholas Hoult will reprise his role as Lex Luthor.

What do we see in the Man of Tomorrow set photo?

Filming for ‘Man of Tomorrow’ has officially begun! Director James Gunn released a photo from the set to mark the occasion. While the picture doesn’t give away much about the story or show any characters, it features a chessboard with a few intriguing details: an ID tag indicating Lex Luthor (whose full name is Alexander Luthor) is connected to the “VanKull Department of Corrections,” and a bag of Ruffles potato chips.

I’m really excited about the new Superman movie, ‘Man of Tomorrow,’ though they’re keeping most of the plot a secret right now. What I do know is that it’s going to be interesting seeing Superman and Lex Luthor actually team up – apparently, they’ll have to work together to face an even bigger danger. Everyone’s guessing that danger is Brainiac, and they’ve cast Lars Eidinger in the role, which I think is fantastic!

The movie’s cast also includes Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, and Aaron Pierre as John Stewart. Adria Arjona is also appearing, and while it’s unclear who she’ll play, rumors suggest she might be Maxima or Wonder Woman. Director James Gunn hasn’t confirmed either possibility.

Man of Tomorrow arrives on Jul 9, 2027. Superman, meanwhile, is available to stream on HBO Max.
