- Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja’s Nioh 3 is set to release early 2026
- It introduces Samurai/Ninja combat styles and an open field world
- A limited-time demo is available now until June 18, 2025
Koei Tecmo and developer Team Ninja have officially unveiled the next chapter in their dark fantasy action RPG series: Nioh 3. This exciting news was shared during Playstation’s State of Play broadcast. In honor of this announcement, a free demo of Nioh 3, available only on PlayStation 5, is now accessible until June 18th.
During Japan’s tumultuous Sengoku era, the Nioh series stands out for its tough battles, rich history, and blend of samurai fighting with supernatural forces. In Nioh 3, players will assume the role of a promising young warrior on the path to becoming the next Shogun, facing off against powerful yokai.
A notable novelty is the inclusion of two unique fighting methods: Samurai and Ninja. The Samurai approach mirrors past experiences in the _Nioh_ series, enriched with extra actions such as Arts Mastery and Parry for high-intensity close combat. On the other hand, the Ninja style highlights swift agility, evasion, and aerial movements, enabling users to exploit numerous “Ninjitsu” skills for ranged strikes and nimble maneuvers. Players have the freedom to switch between these styles on the fly whenever they prefer.
In contrast to its predecessors, Nioh 3 offers a sprawling open-world environment instead of mission-based design. This allows for unpredictable encounters with yokai, exploration of enigmatic villages, and formidable challenges such as The Crucible. The demo also features a character creation option, similar to the one well-liked in the previous game. Team Ninja invites players to offer feedback on the demo via a survey on their official website to aid in refining the final product.
In early 2026, Nioh 3 will debut on PlayStation 5 and Steam for PC, signifying a fresh phase in the series’ development.
