Adolescence star Owen Cooper, 15, shocks The Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon as he reveals what he hates about America

During his interview on The Tonight Show, teenager Owen Cooper surprised host Jimmy Fallon when he shared what he dislikes about living in the United States.

As a passionate enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that I, the budding talent at 15, now residing in the United States, have been savoring my experience here immensely. And when asked about my thoughts on American candy and food, I must confess, I find them truly delightful!

Originating from Cheshire, England, Owen went ahead and purchased a selection of traditional British sweets as evidence that these treats surpass the quality of American candies.

As a devoted sweet-tooth enthusiast, let me express my dismay: The confections and desserts of America, oh boy, they simply don’t tickle my taste buds! They’re just…awful.

‘It’s just Cheetos and all that nonsense. Honestly, I hate it.’

Jimmy replied: ‘But what do you have in England?’

Owen mentioned that he once had Maltesers. If that’s a treat you’ve never tried, he’s bringing the entire basket for everyone to share. He brought along Monster Munch, Maltesers, and Fruit Pastels.

Towards the end of the conversation, Owen shared that a well-known Hollywood actor had recently commended his work.

The actor mentioned that Leonardo DiCaprio recorded a video for him while he was working with his on-screen father, Stephen Graham.

Yesterday, Stephen Graham shared a video with me, featuring Leonardo DiCaprio seated beside him. In the video, DiCaprio addressed someone as ‘Owen’ and expressed his admiration for Adolescence by saying, “Hey Owen, I’m such a big fan of Adolescence.

‘And I was like “What!”‘

Viewers were taken aback when they noticed a significant change in Owen’s height, following the airing of Adolescence on our TV channels, over the past couple of months.

At the London premiere in March, although Stephen, the writer and on-screen father of the show, is taller than Owen, it’s evident that Owen stands out more due to his significant presence compared to his co-star.

Originating from a humbly prestigious working-class neighborhood in Central Warrington, Owen was selected among 500 applicants for the position of Jamie.

It was his first-ever acting job and no one in his family has a background in the industry.

He is being supported on his meteoric rise by dad Andy, an IT worker, and mum Noreen, a carer.

Regarding the transformation they’ve experienced, Noreen expressed: “It’s quite a surprise, but we’re managing to move forward.

According to brand and cultural specialist Nick Ede, there’s a possibility that Owen might emulate Timothée Chalamet and gain widespread acclaim in the film industry, becoming a highly-regarded figure in Hollywood.

As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but share my excitement about the extraordinary impact of Adolescence on the television landscape. Critics are going wild over Owen’s exceptional portrayal, and it’s hard not to join in the chorus of praise!

This 15-year-old actor, who grew up modestly, may quickly become a sought-after talent in Hollywood, similar to Millie Bobby Brown and Timothee Chalamet. Such rags-to-riches tales are adored by the Hollywood elite.

It’s likely that writers have, or will soon submit scripts and summaries showcasing him to his representatives.

Since he’s quite young, it seems certain that someone will provide him with adequate care, ensuring he isn’t forced into the spotlight without proper guidance and backup.

In contrast, achieving fame within the United Kingdom doesn’t equate to global stardom. It’s quite certain that you’ll receive numerous opportunities spanning across film projects, endorsements, and more.

‘He’s likely to experience significant pressure, yet he’ll undoubtedly feel an immense pride in his journey, from the starting point to where he stands today.’

The Emmy awards ceremony will take place in LA in September.
