Rovio Entertainment Corporation has initiated a soft debut of their latest card battling game titled “Sonic Blitz” on both Android and iOS platforms in the Philippines. In partnership with Sega, this release follows Sega’s acquisition of Rovio, renowned for its Angry Birds series, for approximately 706 million euros in 2023. At present, details regarding a worldwide launch are still unavailable.

Sonic Blitz presents a fresh perspective on the Collectible Card Game (CCG) scene by providing fast-paced, three-minute matches brimming with strategic depth and iconic Sonic characters. Each day, you receive an authentic booster pack to construct a 12-card team, then engage in thrilling 1v1 battles. Unlike Pokémon TCG Pocket or DIGIMON ALYSION, it stands out as a unique gaming experience.

I wasn’t anticipating that a Sonic game would adopt the Collectible Card Game (CCG) format, but surprisingly, it manages to do so with a quick, unique take on the genre and intricate 3D character designs. To my delight, I can’t wait to construct teams using my beloved characters such as Knuckles, Super Sonic, Amy, and others, who each offer distinct gameplay styles and special abilities.

As a gamer, I’d say this game is straightforward to dive into, but it packs a punch when it comes to complexity due to its intricate game mechanics. To emerge victorious, you need to anticipate your rival’s next move and strategically use your DASH ability at the right moment. When executed flawlessly, your cards transform into dynamic characters engaging in fierce battles or delivering the final strike.

In the latest mobile game featuring Sonic the Hedgehog, fans will encounter familiar landscapes such as Green Hill Zone and Sky Sanctuary, engage in Ring Challenges, utilize speedy Dash moves, compete in player-versus-player battles, meet iconic characters, and earn valuable prizes.
