Hugh Jackman reveals what he REALLY thinks of Andy Lee’s new Aussie-themed pub
Hollywood superstar Hugh Jackman has weighed in on Andy Lee’s new pub in New York.
Lee, 43, opened his Australian-themed pub, Old Mates, in Manhattan, back in February.
On Tuesday, the actor who played Wolverine (age 56) shared his enthusiasm on social media for a project he’s involved in. This endeavor is supported by an investment group that counts among its members Hamish Blake, renowned surfer Mick Fanning, and Jackman himself.
‘Old Mates – how Aussie’s eat in NYC. This pub is amazing!’ Jackman posted on Instagram.
Additionally, he posted a collection of photos, one of which displays the beloved figure exhibiting his well-known smile and striking a pose in front of the establishment, with an arm draped affectionately around Lee.

Additionally, Jackman posted a snapshot from within the bar featuring himself alongside Lee and Eddy Buckingham – a Sydney-born restaurant owner based in NYC who’s also an investor for Old Mates.
A third image uploaded onto Hugh’s profile displays a stained-glass element within the pub, where it reads ‘New York’.
The pub is nestled within an iconic 1840s Greek Revival structure, which boasts a rich history and occupies the entirety of its location in Downtown Manhattan’s Financial District.
With employees wearing shirts reminiscent of traditional workwear in a deep blue shade and rugby polo tops, the pub gives off an authentic vibe that you might find in The Rocks area or at the end of Collins Street.
Additionally, among the investors are Andy Stone from Bluestone Lane, Pat Cummins, tennis sensation Ash Barty, surfing icons Mick Fanning, and basketball star Patty Mills.
It comes after Lee recently revealed how a tribute to Jackman in his pub went horribly wrong.
In an interview with Nine Entertainment in May, the comedian disclosed his intention to subtly incorporate acknowledgments for his supporters within the decorations of the pub’s walls.
‘I asked them what’s their favourite pub in Australia, their favourite drink?’ he said.

There are subtle tributes to each of them, and a beloved Australian pub, framed and displayed, adorns the wall.
Unfortunately, despite Jackman’s heartfelt tribute, the initial trading day was cut short due to an unfortunate workplace accident.
‘Unfortunately we smashed Jackman’s on day one accidentally,’ Andy admitted.
Up there, above the cash register, something was suspended. One of our staff members rounded the corner and accidentally bumped into it, causing it to fall and shatter the glass!
Despite this, the host from the 100th episode shared that Hugh’s preferred spot for a drink in Australia is the well-known pub, The Oaks Hotel, situated in Neutral Bay.
He first announced his plans to open a New York pub back in December last year.
