Galactus and Mole Man Set to Clash in Fantastic Four: First Steps!
In the vein of “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer”, the upcoming July release, “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” will find Marvel’s original superhero family squaring off against the cosmic entity known as Galactus. With both the Devourer of Worlds and his herald Silver Surfer, portrayed in this storyline by Julia Garner, it seems like that would be enough to keep Mister Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Thing, and Human Torch busy in “First Steps”. However, Joseph Quinn, who’s playing the role of Human Torch (Johnny Storm), has revealed another villain set to make an appearance in the upcoming Marvel film, a confrontation I am eagerly awaiting.
At CCXPMX 25, through Culture Crave, Quinn, along with his co-stars Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, revealed that the character Mole Man will be featured in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. However, it’s clear that Quinn’s role is secondary to the main antagonist, who is being portrayed by Ralph Ineson. As Quinn himself put it during a Q&A session with the audience.
This production boasts a wealth of remarkable characters. Among them is Mole Man, who truly shines, but the main antagonist is Galactus, the colossal, malevolent cosmic deity consuming planets. He’s masterfully portrayed by the exceptionally talented Ralph [Ineson]. Additionally, Silver Surfer is brought to life by Julia Garner, a gifted actress who delivers an outstanding performance in the movie. We were indeed fortunate to collaborate with her. The film is packed with numerous exceptional characters, there’s no denying that.
It’s now confirmed that Mole Man will appear in “The Fantastic Four: First Steps”, with one of the actors revealing this news. However, the actor portraying Mole Man remains unknown, although Paul Walter Hauser seems like a strong contender given the unidentified roles left in the movie. Mole Man was loosely depicted by Tim Blake Nelson in 2015’s “Fantastic Four”, but this time we can expect a more accurate portrayal of the character.

Initially appearing in the comic “The Fantastic Four” #1 back in 1961, the character known as Mole Man, whose real name is Harvey Elder, was the first supervillain the Fantastic Four faced. Although Doctor Doom emerged four issues later and has often been considered their main adversary, Mole Man has consistently posed a significant threat to the team throughout the years. With his exceptional intelligence, heightened senses that compensate for his near-blindness, and control over an army of Moloids, Mole Man is no ordinary foe. I’m eagerly anticipating how a confrontation between him and the Fantastic Four in the Marvel Cinematic Universe unfolds on the big screen.
You won’t have to wait much longer for it to unfold, as “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” is slated to premiere on July 25, 2025. Following that, the team will be back in action for “Avengers: Doomsday”, which is now set to release on December 17, 2026.
