Shock disruption boots 7News Brisbane off the air live as Sydney takes over mid-bulletin

On Monday evening, seven viewers in Queensland experienced shock as their regular broadcast was unexpectedly interrupted and switched to news from Sydney instead.

Due to a power outage, 7News Brisbane temporarily went off-air, with Sydney-based presenters Mark Ferguson and Angela Cox stepping in to replace the regular hosts, Max Futcher and Katrina Blowers from Queensland.

After a commercial break at approximately 6:37 pm, the switch occurred, with the Brisbane broadcast team hastening to resume their television presence in time for the weather forecast, as TV Blackbox reported.

A representative from Seven stated, “A power outage occurred at our station, and the team put in an extraordinary effort to restore broadcasting before delivering the crucial weather updates for Florida, also known as the Sunshine State.

Until reaching the weather segment, the Sydney team handled the news broadcast, and it was sports presenter Mel McLaughlin who first addressed the Queensland viewers as she introduced the sports updates.

‘Welcome back, and welcome to our Brisbane viewers joining us due to a technical issue,’ she said.

In due time, Futcher and Blowers reappeared on our local television screens, showcasing an uplifting story centered around a colossal water slide in a picturesque Colombian hamlet.

Tony Auden then wrapped up the show with Queensland’s weather forecast.

During a cross to weather, sports presenter Steve Titmus found himself unable to deliver the sports headlines because of an unexpected interruption.

At the end of the night, Futcher addressed the audience in Queensland, saying: “I wish you all a peaceful evening.

Following the departure of three top-tier journalists from Channel Seven, there’s been a noticeable shakeup, with them now joining forces at Network Ten.

Last week, it was reported by The Australian’s Media Diary that Amelia Brace, a renowned former foreign correspondent who won awards, Bill Hogan, 7News Sydney reporter, and Denham Hitchcock, producer-reporter for Spotlight, all stepped down from the network.

I am excited to announce that I will be joining the new investigative program spearheaded by Martin White, head of Channel Ten’s news division.

After leaving Seven’s studio in Sydney, Brace and Hitchcock started their new positions at Ten on the following Monday, just a few hours after resigning. Meanwhile, Hogan is set to join the network in about three weeks.

Ten has reportedly offered Brace a $50,000 increase on the $220,000 a year she was being paid.

On Friday, she communicated to her colleagues: “I find it unusual not to have a designated ‘farewell day’, but under the current circumstances, it seems more appropriate for me to gradually disappear from the team.

1. “Show support for yourselves and each other, and remember me whenever you encounter a challenging case study.”

2. “Be there for yourselves and one another, and let me serve as a reminder whenever you need to tackle a tough case study.”

3. “Strengthen yourselves and stand by one another, using me as a touchstone when confronted with a difficult case study.”

4. “Empower yourselves and uplift each other, thinking of me as a guiding presence whenever you face a demanding case study.”

5. “Support and encourage yourselves, lean on one another, and recall my assistance in times of tricky case studies.”

Instead, let’s say that Hitchcock leaves Seven again just three months following his return, having spent a few years living on a catamaran with his family.

He returned, stating on Instagram, “I’m here again! Let’s rinse off some of that salt and get back to my top-notch work.

In 2019, I was tasked with initiating a project that eventually developed into the Spotlight program, initially consisting of only a producer and a cameraman. As the initial, small-scale shows turned out to be successful, the team expanded rapidly, ultimately transforming into the flagship program for our network.

After taking a brief break to embark on a sailing adventure with my loved ones, I’ve come back to discover a revitalized Extended Play (EP), a rejuvenated team, new faces among our reporters, a wave of fresh enthusiasm, and an overflow of captivating stories that have me genuinely thrilled for the upcoming year.

He ended the message by asking followers and fans to send ‘research ideas’.

According to rumors circulating within the industry, it has been confirmed that channel Ten is planning to debut a news magazine program. This new show aims to compete with established programs such as 60 Minutes on Nine, Spotlight on Seven, and Four Corners on ABC.

Last month, The Australian announced that a highly skilled group of producers, known as the “investigations unit,” were coming together to lead a new TV show.

The rumor circulating is that Channel Ten reporter Dan Sutton might assume the role of the show’s executive producer. At present, prospective reporters are undergoing auditions to determine their suitability for future roles.

An official representative from Network Ten affirmed the creation of their investigative team to Daily Mail Australia.

Based on the ongoing expansion and achievements of our news brand, 10News, we’re allocating resources to establish an investigative team dedicated to in-depth investigations. This team will contribute to our news content across all platforms by producing long-form investigative pieces.
