MobLand Finale Confirmed: Did Eddie Survive or Flee for Good?
In Episode 10 of “MobLand” Season 1, it was unveiled the actual fate of Eddie Harrigan (Anson Boon), who had inexplicably vanished. The captivating crime drama series on Paramount+, titled “MobLand,” initially acquainted viewers with the Harrigans, a multifaceted family holding prominent positions within South London’s criminal underworld.
In the heart of the struggle depicted in “MobLand” lies a contentious battle between the Harrigans and Stevensons, each striving for dominance in the criminal landscape of present-day London. Harry Da Souza, the Harrigans’ right-hand man played by Tom Hardy, steers this conflict and works tirelessly to ensure the Harrigans emerge victorious. Yet, appearances can be deceiving as numerous unexpected events unfold within the intricate web of London’s underworld crime scene. Eddie plays a pivotal role in the overall plan that is gradually unveiled.
What Happened to Eddie In MobLand?
In the contentious Harrigan family lineage, Eddie Harrigan was distinctive as his rash act of murdering Tommy Stevenson ignited the violent feud between the Harrigans and Stevensons, which became the brutal gang war depicted in the series MobLand.
It later became clear in Episode 8 of MobLand that Maeve Harrigan, portrayed by Helen Mirren, orchestrated Eddie’s actions to kill Tommy as part of a test to gauge her family’s strength against the Stevensons. Additionally, there was a surprising revelation about Eddie’s paternity in this episode, suggesting he is not Kevin Harrigan’s (Paddy Considine) biological son.
In the final episode of ‘MobLand’ Season 1, it was revealed that Eddie shares the same father as Conrad Harrigan, portrayed by Pierce Brosnan. This makes Kevin his half-brother. It turned out that Conrad and Eddie’s mother, Bella, had a past relationship, which resulted in their affair.
Eddie discovered the truth about the Harrigans from Maeve (during her imprisonment), who suggested they could rule as king and queen by eliminating Harry and Seraphina Harrigan (Mandeep Dhillon). Despite already knowing this, Kevin was aware of it. This revelation left Eddie speechless, but he felt reinvigorated because he might one day have the opportunity to lead the Harrigan empire.
Following his discovery of his true paternity (delve deeper into the intricate Harrigan family lineage in “MobLand”), a more self-assured yet perilous Eddie approached Bella regarding her withholding the truth from him. Despite Bella’s assertion that she adores him unconditionally, an agitated Eddie gripped her tightly before declaring, “I won’t tolerate any more lies.
In the end, Kiko intervened to separate Eddie from Bella, but she demanded that he stay away from her son. Despite his harsh behavior, Eddie’s actions toward Bella were justifiable as he had been harboring feelings of betrayal throughout his life and was taken aback by the situation. It’s also important to mention that he is now uncertain about whom to trust, particularly after being deceived by Maeve.
Does Eddie Die In MobLand?
As a passionate movie enthusiast, I found myself pondering over the captivating ending of Episode 10 from “MobLand”. While Harry and Kevin’s ruthless elimination of Richie Stevenson marked an end to the relentless gang war, the enigma surrounding Eddie’s disappearance lingered. The heart-stopping scene where Eddie choked Bella was our last glimpse of him in the finale, stirring speculation among viewers about his ultimate fate – did he meet his demise or vanish forever?
In an interview with TV Insider, Anson Boon explained that Eddie left after strangling Bella in the Season 1 finale, stating that he needed to step away for a while to gather his thoughts before ultimately facing off against Kevin: “he’s [taking some time] to get his bearings.
It seems to me that the events unfolded rather quickly for him with Bella. Immediately after leaving prison and meeting Maeve, he found himself with Bella, suggesting an immediate, instinctual response. In other words, it was a gut reaction. To put it mildly, he couldn’t resist. He was so overwhelmed. However, it’s possible that he fled the scene. Zosia gave him a hard punch to the stomach, leaving him winded. He may need some time to regroup before he reunites with his brother, Kevin, I suppose. During this time, he might gather his thoughts and decide on his next course of action.
1) It makes sense that Eddie’s decision to disconnect is understandable, given the significant truths he uncovered. As a member of the Harrigan clan, it wouldn’t be surprising if he knew about their secret hideouts and was currently seeking refuge in one of them.
From his remarks, it appears that Eddie harbors some unresolved issues with his ex-father-turned-brother, Kevin, following the strained bond they developed during Season 1.
During a recent chat with Men’s Journal, Boon hinted at Eddie’s mental state following his departure in the final episode of MobLand Season 1. He emphasized that, given the uncertainty about who can be trusted now, he feels it’s necessary to take some time for personal introspection and solitude.
It appears to me that Eddie might be running away, and it seems like he needs some personal space at this moment. I have a feeling that Eddie is contemplating his next steps since it’s becoming increasingly difficult to know who to rely on. The one person Eddie thought he could unquestionably trust was his grandmother [Helen Mirren’s Maeve], as she always seems to provide him with the right guidance. However, he learns that they aren’t even blood-related!
As Eddie embarks on his journey of self-discovery, there’s a possibility that “MobLand” Season 2 could depict this evolution. It promises an engaging watch as we anticipate the portrayal of his encounters with the Harrigan clan members in the upcoming series.
