Ben Affleck serves as the third wheel during dinner date with Matt Damon and wife Luciana

Over the weekend, Ben Affleck found himself in a trio with his longtime friend Matt Damon and Matt’s spouse, Luciana Barroso.

52-year-old Affleck and 54-year-old Damon were recently seen dining together at Steak 48 in Beverly Hills. Accompanying them was Damon’s wife, who is 48 years old and they married in 2005.

I was seen dining out several hours following my attendance at the Netflix Tudum event held at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, where the entertaining banter between Ben and Matt over Matt’s gray beard took place.

At the event, they showcased the initial clips of their Netflix action movie, The Rip, followed by a delightful evening meal in Beverly Hills.

At dinner, Ben was seen donning a black T-shirt beneath a black leather coat, accompanied by blue denim pants and black footwear.

For their outing, Matt decided on a white short-sleeved button-up shirt, grey trousers, and white sneakers from his childhood days.

In the eagerly awaited adaptation of Homer’s The Odyssey directed by Christopher Nolan, Damon decided to let his beard grow grey for the role of Odysseus.

Principal photography for the movie began towards the end of February, featuring actors like Tom Holland, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, and Charlize Theron. However, it remains uncertain if they have completed shooting the film.

Upon taking the stage, Affleck quipped, “I thought Matt would trim his beard by Tudum, but it appears we are still here with beards intact.

They introduced co-stars Teyana Taylor, Steven Yeun, and Catalina Sandino Moreno.

In Joe Carnahan’s upcoming crime drama on Netflix, set to air on January 16, Affleck and Damon play Miami police officers whose bond starts to unravel when they find large sums of money hidden in a dilapidated storage facility, causing tension within their team.

In an interview with Tudum last weekend, Carnahan shared that ‘The Rip’ was born from a profoundly personal ordeal that his friend encountered, encompassing aspects of being a father and holding the position of head of tactical narcotics for the Miami Dade police department.

The creation was partly influenced by his life experiences and my lasting affection for the 1970s cop dramas, which emphasized characters and interpersonal dynamics. These movies served as cultural landmarks during that time, including films like Serpico, Prince of the City, and more recently, Heat directed by Michael Mann.

In addition to the main cast, Sasha Calle, Nestor Carbonell, Lina Esco, Scott Adkins, and Kyle Chandler are set to make appearances on the series The Rip.

Friends from Boston collaborated on the production of director Bill Condon’s reimagining of the West End musical “Kiss of the Spider Woman,” featuring Jennifer Lopez, who was previously married to Ben, and will be released in U.S. cinemas on October 10.

At the moment, Matt is taking a pause in his work for the production of the “mythic action epic” by Universal Pictures, which has a budget of $250M and is set to be released in theaters on July 17, 2026.

In the past, filmmaker Nolan has directed Damon on three occasions, with their latest collaboration being “The Odyssey.” This follows their work together in the 2014 science fiction film “Interstellar” and the 2023 atomic bomb biopic titled “Oppenheimer.

Filming for the IMAX movie officially started on February 25, and it’s anticipated that shooting will occur in various locations such as Italy, Greece, Morocco, Scotland, Ireland, and the UK.
