The long-awaited British and Irish premiere for the reboot of the ‘80s horror-comedy “The Toxic Avenger” has been officially confirmed!
On August 29th, the latest rendition of the beloved timeless film will hit theaters worldwide, including the United States.
As I plunged myself into this game, I found myself following the tale of a humble janitor, who, in an unexpected twist, became a mop-armed mutant hero known as Toxie, thanks to a bizarre turn of events.
In the new production, Peter Dinklage lends his voice to the main character named Winston Gooze/Toxie, while Luisa Guerreiro takes on the role of the stunt double.
Additionally, Luca features Jacob Tremblay, Kevin Bacon from The Bondsman, Elijah Wood known for The Lord of the Rings, and Julia Davis of Nighty Night are among its cast members.

The movie was first shown at Fantastic Fest as far back as September 2023, meaning that numerous critics have had a chance to review it by now.
Great news! The revamped version of “The Toxic Avenger” is receiving overwhelmingly positive feedback. At the moment, it boasts an impressive 92% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 25 professional critiques.
The reboot’s rating is above the 70% positive score of the initial movie on that platform, yet it should be noted that just 20 critic assessments were taken into account, with none being from the film’s original premiere date.

In line with the original version, it should be noted that “The Toxic Avenger” is not suitable for all audiences. However, if you’re someone who enjoys a lot of blood and laughter in equal measure, you’ll find this remake to be an absolute blast!
In a positive review, Discussing Film commended the movie for maintaining the raw authenticity of its source material. Meanwhile, Spectrum Culture expressed appreciation that the high-profile actors didn’t treat the project as if it were unworthy of their talents.
The Toxic Avenger remake is released on UK, Irish, and US cinemas on 29 August.
The premiere issue of Digital Spy’s print magazine, titled “British Comedy Legends,” is available! Purchase it from your local newsagents or online for only £3.99.
