Actor Daniel Casey, who stars in Midsomer Murders, has shown interest in rejoining the beloved ITV show if given the opportunity.
From 1997 to 2003, Casey starred as Sergeant Gavin Troy, the initial partner to John Nettles’ Detective Chief Inspector Tom Barnaby in the popular detective series.

Casey departed from the program after getting promoted to the rank of Detective Inspector. On the other hand, Nettles stayed on the show until 2011 before being replaced by Neil Dudgeon.
In an interview with Radio Times regarding his return to play Troy following a 20-year absence, now that the series is being produced for its 25th season, Casey expressed openness to the prospect.
He mentioned that it hadn’t crossed his mind before, but he’d be receptive to any ideas, as the show continues to be cherished by many.

Reflecting on his short stint on the series in 2008, Casey expressed his joy at revisiting Midsomer Murders, hinting that he’d enjoy another opportunity to work on it.
On one occasion, I visited when Cully tied the knot, and it was simply fantastic. The grandeur of my arrival left an impression. Soaring above the road only to crash into the woods and emerge from the wreckage, there stood John – a moment that was nothing short of extraordinary.
“So yeah, never say never, that would be a lovely idea wouldn’t it!”

Regarding Neil Dudgeon’s performance as Detective Chief Inspector, Casey commented: “Neil Dudgeon is truly delightful and does an exceptional job.
In the latest development, it has been revealed that Casey will take over Nettles’ role as DCI Tom Barnaby in the play “Midsomer Murders: The Mysteries of Badger’s Drift,” scheduled to premiere in October.
When the announcement for the stage production came out, Casey expressed in a statement that he hadn’t anticipated returning to the world of Midsomer, filled as it is with peculiar and captivating personalities, along with their hidden, enigmatic mysteries.
