James Gunn responds to surprising Superman runtime reports

James Gunn has countered the whispers about the length of the upcoming Superman movie, by clarifying that earlier conjecture was unfounded.

In the forthcoming DC Universe movie, we find David Corenswet portraying Clark Kent/Superman as he navigates his dual identity as an alien and a member of his foster human family. Simultaneously, he foils the malicious schemes of Lex Luthor, played by Nicholas Hoult.

Prior to its premiere on July 11th, there were rumors that the movie might run for approximately 122 minutes. If this is true, it would make the film the second shortest in the series since the 1987 release of “Superman IV: The Quest for Peace” which was only 93 minutes long.

According to Gunn, it was crucial for viewers to witness that he’s facing something potentially harmful. Seeing him in a vulnerable state, they might think, “Wow, yes, I hadn’t expected that.” This is often the reaction of those who watch the trailer when they haven’t seen this aspect before.

He questioned, “Looks like there’s a bit of blood trickling from his mouth, huh? Can’t figure out where it’s originating. Any ideas?” Then, he delved into the intricate details of the main character’s personal growth, particularly his life on Earth.

The film significantly explores his ancestry, showcasing its impact on his life and personality. Remarkably, this Kryptonian hero embodies strong human traits, which adds an intriguing layer to his character.
