In his recent effort to challenge his verdict for owning illicit child pornography, Josh Duggar has come forward with an unexpected confession.
The 37-year-old, once prominent figure from the show “19 Kids and Counting,” is asking the presiding judge in his case to assign a different attorney to defend him.
In a letter penned to the judge on Tuesday and acquired by People, the convicted sex offender argued that he required a court-appointed attorney since he was no longer able to afford the expenses of his personal legal representation.
‘I am unable to afford counsel due to my current financial circumstances,’ he reportedly wrote.
In May 2022, Duggar received a sentence of 12 years and 7 months in a federal penitentiary following his conviction for downloading and owning illegal child pornography material.
