Holy Sh*t! New Transformers Toys REVEALED!
Dr. Wu’s company has risen to prominence as a top third-party manufacturer for non-official action figures, known for creating toys that closely resemble animations. Soon, their collection will expand with four new additions, two of which pay tribute to the brand’s most obscure Generation 1 products.
Dr. Wu’s versions of Cliffjumper, Shockwave, and Hubcap (with a peculiar link to both Cliffjumper and Bumblebee) are his interpretations of the G1 characters. These figures are designed to match modern Micromaster toy sizes and aim to replicate their Generation 1 animated appearances with an abundance of unanticipated articulation points. Shockwave, when transformed into Pulse Gun, will also receive a less common color scheme. Pre-ordering these toys may even reward fans with additional extras for the two Autobots. These items are part of the series that aligns with Hasbro and Takara’s official Transformers toy line.
Cliffjumper, Hubcap & Shockwave Get Reimagined With New Dr. Wu Transformers Toys
I’m absolutely thrilled about the fresh additions to my collection – the DW-E37, DW-E38, and DW-E39 figures! While some of these characters might be familiar or new to fans, there are a couple that stand out. Leap and Pulse Gun are undeniably recognizable, as they’re modeled after Cliffjumper and Shockwave from The Transformers we all grew up with.
Cliffjumper here is more in line with his animated counterpart compared to the original toy design. Although, since these are third-party figures, they don’t sport the faction symbols that would tell us whether they’re Autobots or Decepticons. Shockwave transforms into a Cybertronian laser gun, just like before, while Cliffjumper takes on a super-deformed version of a Porsche 924 Turbo – similar to the original toy.
Hubcap is quite similar and follows the design from G1. Interestingly, this figure is actually a retool of Cliffjumper’s action figure. Hubcap shares the yellow color scheme with fellow Autobot Bumper, blending elements of Porsche 924 Turbo and Cliffjumper in his appearance.
One alternative for “Shockwave” is a redesigned black version, paying tribute to the original “Astro Magnum” toy which later became Shockwave. Similar to many early Generation 1 Transformers, Shockwave’s toy was derived from another franchise, with most of the others originating from different sources. If this isn’t a subtle enough nod to the past, pre-ordering Leap and Wheel Hub will grant bonus bazooka weapons for the figures to wield. This is a reference to an old cartoon episode where Cliffjumper unexpectedly pulled out a large bazooka, despite not typically being associated with such a weapon before. Of course, Dr. Wu isn’t just sitting on its achievements; they are also offering other toys that can interact with newer official releases once again.
Dr. Wu Reissues Previous Cassette Transformers Toys After 6 Years
Dr. Wu is not only introducing fresh toys but also re-launching past editions for his third-party Transformers series. Excitingly, enthusiasts can now pre-order the DW-E59 Drone and DW-E60 Rover once more. These characters, known as “Cassetticons,” are compatible with the toy line from the Netflix anime “Transformers: War for Cybertron.” Although Rover bears some resemblance to the “Autoscout” from “The Transformers,” these were entirely original creations. True to their names, Rover is a drone designed for exploring the moon, while Drone transforms into an aerial drone. Both were initially released in 2019 by Dr. Wu, but it seems they’re making a comeback, as the company’s Weibo account has announced their re-release, allowing collectors to expand their collections.
Once again, the original versions are back along with an additional type of Decepticons that fans can collect. Dr. Wu is introducing a camouflaged military edition of the DW-E59 Drone and DW-E60 Rover, which aligns perfectly with the warlike nature of these Transformers. These new figures are now up for sale online, with sites like Alibaba offering them at approximately $23-$26 each. The military versions are expected to hit the market in July, while the set containing DW-E37 and DW-E38 will retail for $44.99 and be available in August. However, other online stores have a different two-pack featuring black DW-E38 and DW-E39 available for around $28.99 and scheduled for release in July as well.
