On a glamorous evening, Scarlett Johansson adorned herself for the grand premiere of The Phoenician Scheme, which took place at Jazz at Lincoln Center located within Manhattan’s Columbus Circle on a bustling Wednesday night.
In a stunning coral Saint Laurent gown, complete with a lariat necklace and rings from Taffin Jewelry chosen by stylist Kate Young, the 40-year-old ex-child star showcased her impressive 5ft3in figure.
After a change, hairstylist David von Cannon decided not to pull Scarlett’s highlighted wavy hair back into its typical tight bun. Instead, he allowed it to cascade freely.
Jian Qiao Lu, the make-up artist, accentuated Johansson’s full eyebrows and her slightly exaggerated lips reminiscent of a bee sting, using only a modest amount of makeup.
The twice-nominated for an Oscar actor is playing a minor part in the humorous spy film, where he portrays a serious character referred to simply as ‘Cousin’, and titled “Black Comedy about Espionage”. This movie will premiere in select US cinemas this coming Friday, with a broader launch planned for both the US and UK on June 6th.

Scarlett gracefully stood alongside Wes Anderson, the director of The Phoenician Scheme, as well as her fellow actors Scott Shepherd, F. Murray Abraham, Hope Davis, Bryan Cranston, Mia Threapleton, Benicio del Toro, Steve Park, Michael Cera, and Tom Hanks for a photo.
On Wednesday, Johansson shared that it was fantastic as she had the chance to briefly reconnect with old friends, make new acquaintances among her fellow actors, and immerse herself in Wes’ realm, as she expressed to Extra.
It’s fascinating, they had been laboring diligently for quite some time – that’s Michael, Benicio, and Mia. After months of hard work, I stepped in, enjoyed myself, and then casually said, “Well, I’ll catch up with you all later!
At this moment, the Phoenician Scheme boasts a ‘verified favorable’ 76% approval score based on 90 critic reviews, according to Rotten Tomatoes.
At the event, it appeared that the founder of The Outset was particularly friendly with Tom Hanks, both donning formal attire in black suits. Hanks plays the character Leland in the quirky movie about a father and daughter relationship.
While Cranston’s eccentric red carpet behavior brought a smile to Scarlett’s face, she playfully interacted with Abraham and Threapleton during their photoshoot.
Or, more colloquially:
Scarlett found Cranston’s goofy red carpet shenanigans entertaining, and she had a fun time hanging out with Abraham and Threapleton on the red carpet.
Johansson continues to bask in the afterglow following the six-minute standing ovation she received for her directorial debut, “Eleanor the Great,” at the May 20th premiere of the Cannes Film Festival.
In a heartfelt independent film, the protagonist is June Squibb, portraying Eleanor Morgenstein, a vibrant 90-year-old woman who returns to New York City after her lifelong friend passes away in Florida.
As a devoted collaborator, I’ve had the privilege of working under the watchful eyes of Steve Sarowitz and Justin Baldoni, co-founders of Wayfarer Studios. They were not just supportive, but actively involved and encouraging every step of the way during the production of Eleanor the Great.
Jamey Heath, head of Wayfarer Studios and an executive producer, accompanied Scarlett at Cannes, joining the rest of his team in support.

This month, Johansson mentioned to Vanity Fair that the timing of collaborating with Baldoni and Heath seemed “unusually coincidental” since they are currently embroiled in a legal battle with her former spouse, Ryan Reynolds, and his wife, Blake Lively (her first ex-husband).
In 2011, the year following their on-screen partnership in Green Lantern, the actress from Project Artemis went through a well-known divorce with Reynolds.
Scarlett will additionally take on the role of Captain Katherine in Kristin Scott Thomas’ first directorial film, “My Mother’s Wedding,” set to premiere in U.S. cinemas on August 8.
As a devoted admirer, I am excited to share that I, like Johansson, shall bring both production and performance to life as the troubled FBI informant, Carol Blevins, in Andrea Arnold’s forthcoming true-crime thriller, Featherwood.
In a personal note, this New York native is a mother of two: her 10-year-old daughter Rose and her 3-year-old son Cosmo, who she had with her former spouses Romain Dauriac (her second ex) and Colin Jost (her third).
