HBO has renewed the Steve Carell comedy Rooster for a second season. The show just started airing last month, and the final five episodes of its first season haven’t been released yet.
Created by Bill Lawrence and Matt Tarses, the duo behind Scrubs, Rooster has been a huge hit for HBO.
According to Deadline, the first episode of the show attracted 2.4 million viewers across all platforms in the US within its first three days. This is the biggest audience for a new HBO comedy in nearly 11 years.

The comedy continues to be popular on HBO Max, consistently ranking among the top three shows each day. The first four episodes averaged 5.8 million viewers in the U.S.
As a gamer, I was stoked to hear Amy Gravitt from HBO say they’re really happy with how people are reacting to Rooster. Apparently, the team at HBO felt the same way when Steve, Bill, and Matt first brought the character to life – they knew it was something special right away, and it’s awesome to see others feeling that too!
What to Read Next
We’re excited to see what happens next for the talented cast of Ludlow’s Spring Semester, in collaboration with our partners at WBTV and Doozer.
In the film, Rooster portrays Greg Russo, the writer behind the hugely popular Rooster detective novels.
While giving a lecture at Ludlow College, Greg discovers his daughter, Katie, is going through a difficult time after her husband left her for one of his graduate students.
I’m really enjoying watching Greg try to help Katie, but it’s also interesting to see how much pressure he gets from students because he’s the author of that famous book! It’s like they expect him to be a certain way because of it, and he’s trying to balance that with just being a normal guy helping a friend.

The movie Rooster has been praised by critics and currently has an 88% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
According to Common Sense Media, Steve Carell is a much-loved comedic actor, making this movie enjoyable simply because he’s in almost every scene.
According to Exclaim!, the movie is a must-see thanks to its funny lines and Steve Carell’s charming acting.
IGN praised Rooster as delightful, clever, and hilarious, also noting that the show boasts a highly talented cast and production crew.
“Rooster is Ted Lasso for the HBO set and well worth a watch.”
You can watch Rooster on HBO and stream it on HBO Max in the United States. If you’re in the UK, it’s available to stream on HBO Max, NOW TV, and Amazon Prime Video.
The latest issue of Living Legends, a beautifully illustrated 100-page tribute to Sir David Attenborough, is now available! You can purchase it at newsstands or online.
