Maharishi & Birkenstock’s Mogami Terra Tech Sandal Gets a “Military-Grade Construction”
Summary
- Maharishi has teamed up with Birkenstock to unveil the Mogami Terra Tech, a military-grade inspired sandal with functional features fit for urban strolls and outdoor exploration.
- Set for release on May 30, the Black and Olive sandals will be joined by matching M.A.L.I.C.E. backpacks and intarsia tabi socks.
Maharishi has incorporated a military-style vocabulary into their Birkenstock Mogami Terra design, taking cues from the design technologies used by the U.S. Army in the 1960s. The ad campaign, captured by photographer Tyrone Lebon, showcases the shoe’s adaptability and functional elements by featuring it in various outdoor and urban settings.
At the heart of its construction lies a novel component modeled after the M.A.L.I.C.E. (Modified All-Purpose Lightweight Individual Carrying Equipment) system, offering convenience with its removable crossbody strap and dual carabiners that make transporting it during barefoot moments and travel storage effortless. For additional practicality, the Mogami Terra Tech’s straps incorporate a quick-release buckle made from both suede and nylon webbing. On the underside, a polyurethane sole molded for all-weather use provides an enhanced, all-weather alternative to Birkenstock’s classic anatomical footbed.
Together with molded footbeds and strategic details on the straps, the collaboration also provides split-toe tabi socks in two color options for all-weather use. This collection will offer items in olive green and black, which include the BIRKENSTOCK MAHARISHI M.A.L.I.C.E. backpack. This backpack showcases 3D external pockets, concealed side pockets, and an expandable design capable of extending up to 50% in height. It also features a quilted lining, suspended laptop compartment, and quick-release buckles for easy access.
On May 30th, I’m thrilled to share that the Maharishi x Birkenstock collection will officially drop! You can find it at both the Maharishi and Birkenstock online stores, as well as at our physical locations in London and New York City. Can’t wait to see this collaboration come to life!
