Mia Threapleton Reveals Why Kate Winslet Avoided Letting Her Watch Titanic

Kate Winslet’s daughter, Mia Hunka-Threpeltons, confessed that her well-known mother, Kate Winslet, wouldn’t deliberately play the movie “Titanic” on television during their childhood years.

24-year-old Mia, who carries on her mother’s profession as an actress, confessed that she’s never watched the entirety of the critically acclaimed, award-winning movie.

As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but share a funny anecdote about my one and only viewing of that movie. I vaguely recall the circumstances under which I stumbled upon it. It wasn’t something my mother would casually choose to watch. In fact, I can’t imagine her opting for such a film voluntarily!

‘She does not like watching herself. And I totally understand why.’

In reference to the suggestive car scene between her mother and Leonardo DiCaprio, she commented: ‘I recall the car scene taking place and these hands suddenly emerged from behind my head, shielding my eyes.’

Currently, Mia is taking on her most significant part ever as she graces the screen in Wes Anderson’s newest production titled “The Phoenician Scheme.” This movie made its debut this past Friday.

Reflecting on that momentous day when she learned she’d landed the role, it was in December 2023 that she disclosed she was on a train at the time, promptly phoning her dearest friend and breaking down in tears.

She also started crying. She exclaimed something like, “Oh my goodness, I can hardly believe it! I’m so thrilled for you. You’ve worked towards this goal for such a long time.” It seemed as if she was thinking, “This is actually becoming real”.

Last week, Mia went to the Cannes Film Festival to attend the highly distinguished premiere of The Phoenician Scheme, which was filled with many well-known celebrities.

The actress was stunning in a dramatic, deep-green dress, captivating the cameras with her series of poses.

The dress, adorned with a pattern of orange flowers, had a bold, structured skirt, rather than traditional straps.

This year’s Cannes premiere saw the highly anticipated release of “The Phoenician Scheme,” a film boasting an impressive cast of A-list actors. Given the fact that it was directed by the renowned Anderson, such acclaim is hardly unexpected.

At the forefront of the ensemble is Benicio del Toro, portraying affluent entrepreneur Zsa-zsa Korda. Instead of having multiple heirs, Zsa-zsa designates his single child, who has taken holy vows, as the sole inheritor of his property.

Yet, as Korda ventures into a fresh endeavor, they swiftly find themselves under attack from cunning industrialists, overseas extremists, and relentless killers.

Or:

But with each new project Korda embarks upon, they quickly attract the unwanted attention of scheming magnates, foreign terror groups, and cold-blooded assassins.

In the cast lineup, Mia takes on the role of Sister Liesl, sharing screen time with Michael Cera, Riz Ahmed, Tom Hanks, Bryan Cranston, Richard Ayoade, Jeffrey Wright, Scarlett Johansson, Benedict Cumberbatch, Rupert Friend, and Bill Murray.

As a fervent admirer, I can hardly contain my excitement! Our beloved director’s latest masterpiece is poised for a grand debut in the US on May 30th. With fingers crossed and hearts pounding, we eagerly anticipate it might just be his next blockbuster Oscar contender – reminiscent of the triumphant success he achieved with The Grand Budapest Hotel back in 2014!
