Dr. Chris Brown has shared that he’s dating Lorraine Monforte, a former TV publicist, but they’re taking things slow and trying to stay out of the spotlight as more people become interested in their relationship.
The 47-year-old television veterinarian revealed in this week’s Stellar magazine that they initially connected through their jobs and have been acquainted for many years.
I’m happily in a relationship,” Chris shared. “I first met Lorraine through work – she used to be a publicist for a TV network, and we became friends that way. She worked there for thirteen years, actually.
For a long time, that was pretty much the whole story. But she really understands television and how the media works. She knows what people mean when they use terms like “hard launch” and where those trends come from – she can even find the humor in them.
Chris also mentioned that Monforte’s experience in the television industry has been useful in dealing with the public attention their relationship has received, ever since they were seen together at the Australian Grand Prix in March.
Oh, everyone always talks about his personal life, tries to figure out what’s going on. But honestly, he’s said he doesn’t even bother with it anymore, which is amazing. Like, he’s just moved past all the gossip, and it makes me love him even more! It’s so refreshing to see someone not care about what everyone thinks they know.
‘Occasionally I’ll run into the women I’ve supposedly been in a relationship with… we have a good laugh. That’s the only way you can deal with it… I could be rumoured to be in a relationship with someone one week, then separated the next,’ he joked.
Things are complicated right now. I’m expecting a baby with someone new, and it’s a lot to handle. I sometimes need help from my dad or a close family friend just to keep track of my relationships.
Chris advises Robert Irwin, who is now hosting ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’, to not take things too seriously – that’s the most important thing, he says.
To be honest, I don’t think he needs a lot of guidance. We spoke when he began the job, and I made sure to wish him well and emphasize how enjoyable the show is to be a part of.
He noted that Robert grew up around television, so he’s naturally comfortable being in the public eye.
Robert and his family had been to the show’s set a few times while I was the host, so he already knew how things worked. Plus, he’s very comfortable in front of the camera, having been on camera his whole life, he explained.
Okay, so Chris gets it. He says when everyone’s looking at you and judging, you just have to find the humor in it all. Honestly, it’s brilliant! Like, he just gets how crazy things can get, and he’s telling us to laugh it off. I’m living for this advice, seriously. It’s so him!
In addition to his work as an actor and his personal life, Chris is now leading new projects for the Seven network, such as ‘My Reno Rules.’ He explains that the competition on this show is particularly intense because of a significant cash prize.
He explained that this sense of the unexpected is also a key part of his new wildlife series, Once In A Lifetime, which involves taking Australian celebrities to challenging and remote locations.
Filming in Colombia presented a serious risk when Chris and comedian Mick Molloy came across a large and increasing number of wild hippos. These hippos are descendants of the animals originally kept by drug kingpin Pablo Escobar.
He exclaimed, ‘On the very first day of filming, Mick and I were actually charged by the hippos that belonged to Pablo Escobar!’
As a bit of a TV insider, I was definitely surprised to see Chris move on from Channel Ten earlier this year. He’d been a familiar face on ‘I’m A Celebrity…’ for over ten years! Now, he’s over at Seven, and I’m hearing he’s already leading some really exciting new projects. It’s a great move for him, and I’m looking forward to seeing what he does there.
He and Monforte are currently dividing their time between Sydney and Brisbane, but they’re choosing to keep their relationship private, even though many people in the industry are aware of it.
