Dani Harmer’s Hair Loss Struggle

As a devoted fan, I’m sharing that Dani Harmer, once a cherished child star, recently disclosed her diagnosis of perimenopause in a heartfelt TikTok video posted on Monday.

In the TV series that aired from 2002 to 2005, the actress became well-known for portraying Tracey Beaker, Jacqueline Wilson’s character with wavy hair who attended school.

In addition, Dani continued to play the same character across various sequels, including Tracy Beaker Returns (in 2010), The Dumping Ground (in 2013), and more recently, My Mum Tracy Beaker and The Beaker Girls (both in 2021).

Currently, the 36-year-old television personality has revealed her battle with health issues, confessing that it has significantly affected her famous, dark, cascading curls.

She said: ‘I have been diagnosed with perimenopause. And what I need your help with is my hair.

My hair is becoming significantly thinner, and I can see areas where it’s starting to recede. The texture has changed as well, and it’s not a good sight.

Dani confessed that she’s troubled due to her noticeable hair loss and sought advice from her followers about the possibility of getting hair extensions, yet expressed concern that it might further damage her existing hair.

She added: ‘It might not be a good choice, as it could potentially worsen my hair situation. However, I must admit that I’m feeling quite frustrated by it now.’

In terms of how Dani got diagnosed with perimenopause, it was her husband Simon who initially observed a significant shift in her overall demeanor.

The actress admitted that her symptoms became overwhelming, with growing depression, anxiety, and a condition known as “brain fog,” accompanied by frequent night sweats and disrupted sleep patterns.

Dani revealed that she went to the GP and saw a female doctor and got a ‘diagnosis pretty swiftly’.

They also did blood tests to rule anything else out.

Exhaling deeply, she commented, “It seemed as if another entity had taken control of me; the experience was dreadful – I found myself sinking further and further into a dismal state of despair.

‘So I’m really glad that I went and I got help. My doctor was more than happy to put me on HRT.’

Dani mentioned that she’s been undergoing hormone replacement therapy (HRT) for approximately 18 months now, and she feels like her true self once more. Additionally, she managed to shed the extra pounds she put on during the lockdown.

However the only lasting side effect she is facing is hair loss and the ‘odd hot flush and stuff’.

The Tracey Beaker star concluded by offering to try and answer fans questions about perimenopause.

She wrote, ‘While I don’t claim to be an expert, I’d be happy to share what I know based on my experiences, should anyone have any questions.’

Supporters flooded the comments section, offering suggestions as well as expressing pride for Dani as she shared her experiences along the way.

The video was released following Dani’s discussion, where she described the harrowing ordeal of her labor lasting for five days. She shared this account during her conversation with Vanessa Feltz on her Channel 5 program, revealing that her partner was deeply concerned, believing they might lose both Dani and their baby.

In the year 2016, she gave birth to her initial child, Avarie-Belle (eight years old), along with her companion Simon Brough. Later in 2022, she also welcomed a new addition, Rowan, as her second child.

Recently, the mother of two confided in Vanessa that the delivery of her first child wasn’t straightforward. In fact, labor lasted a full five days, and it took quite some time for her to recover from the experience.

For her first pregnancy, Dani required an emergency cesarean section. They grappled with the challenging prospect of potentially losing both Dani and their newborn child.

In the company of James Jordan and Paula Rhone-Adrien, Dani shared her experience, stating, “My initial delivery with Avarie-Belle was incredibly difficult and traumatic.

For five days, I underwent labor before needing an unexpected C-section, a significant contrast to a planned, elective one.

Moreover, it was truly terrifying, affecting both myself and my partner significantly. I believe the experience was particularly traumatic for him due to his direct observation of the events unfolding.

In a heart-wrenching moment, I found myself grappling with the fear of potentially losing not just my unborn child, but also the possibility of saying goodbye to someone dear – myself.

Since I had taken a significant amount of various substances during the incident, I can’t recall many details, but it was an ordeal I never wished to revisit. Therefore, when we found ourselves expecting our second child, I strongly preferred to opt for an elective cesarean section to ensure a different experience.

‘I discovered they were strongly encouraging me to opt for a natural childbirth. I told them that if they can’t assure me with absolute certainty that I’ll deliver naturally, then I would prefer to schedule a C-section instead.’

Their daughter was born at 5pm on June, 29 and weighed 6lb 9oz.

In simpler terms, it’s clear that Dani’s distressing experience during her first pregnancy is what led to the six-year difference in ages between her two kids.

She gave birth to her second child, Rowan in February 2022 at 10.49am and weighed 8lb 3oz’.
