Lisa Rinna shares what it would take to get her back on ‘Real Housewives’

Lisa Rinna is open to returning to the “Real Housewives” series, but she says her husband, Harry Hamlin, would need to be significantly compensated for his participation.

Rinna admitted she jokingly told her husband she might consider something if the price was right. ‘I said I’d do it for $5 million,’ she explained, ‘and he responded that $10 million would be enough to get her to reconsider.’

Former “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star wasn’t shy about making critical comments during a panel discussion at The Times’ Festival of Books on Saturday morning.

Lisa Rinna, author of “You Better Believe I’m Gonna Talk About It,” recently spoke with Yvonne Villarreal of the Times about her career. They discussed her beginnings as a soap opera actress, her popularity on “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” and her latest appearance on “The Traitors.”

Lisa Rinna, known for her quick wit and openness on “The Real Housewives,” details a difficult time in her memoir. She discusses filming season 12 shortly after her mother, Lois, passed away, and how her grief turned into intense anger.

My initial reaction was anger, which surprised me. I thought I’d be shocked or deeply saddened, but I was immediately furious – and it wasn’t a pretty sight, to be honest. I believe my grief then affected both the other housewives and the viewers watching the show.

Following her run on “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” Rinna appeared on Season 4 of “The Traitors.” The show, similar to the game Mafia, involves celebrities who are secretly assigned as either “faithfuls” or “traitors,” with the faithful players trying to identify the traitors. Rinna quickly became a fan favorite while playing the role of a traitor, often sporting memorable outfits like her famous cheetah-print look.

When I signed on to do ‘Traitors,’ I told myself to just be authentic. I didn’t want to bring any of the drama or typical behavior from ‘Housewives’ with me – I just wanted to be myself,” Rinna explained.

She playfully described being labeled a traitor as the best part of her year, sarcastically listing the things she was accused of doing – harming others, lying, and betraying people – with a touch of dark humor.

Rinna explained how playing “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” and “The Traitors” required very different approaches and goals. She discussed the distinct strategies she used on each show.

As a huge fan, I always thought ‘Housewives’ was tough, but Rinna really hit the nail on the head! She explained that unlike ‘Traitors,’ which is designed to be a game, ‘Housewives’ is about genuinely trying to navigate really messy, real-life drama. It’s not scripted – you’re actually dealing with complicated relationships and conflicts as they happen, and trying to protect yourself in the process. It’s real life, just on TV!
