Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning sets new record with “excellent” box office debut
As a hardcore gamer, I’ve just smashed my personal best! Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning has blown past all expectations and set a new high score at the US box office with an incredible opening weekend.
This coming Friday marks the eighth (potentially last) release in the action movie series, which raked in a whopping $63 million over its first weekend at U.S. theaters.
Based on Variety’s estimation, the total is anticipated to amount to approximately $77 million over the Memorial Day holiday period.

In a stunning turn of events, “The Final Reckoning” managed to secure the largest opening in its 29-year-old series, outperforming “Mission: Impossible – Fallout” from 2018, which initially earned $61 million upon release.
At the same time, the film earned an additional $127 million overseas, bringing its global opening to $190 million.
Simultaneously, the movie garnered $127 million internationally, leading to a total worldwide launch of $190 million.
Or simply:
The film made an extra $127 million internationally, resulting in a global start of $190 million.
Despite setting new benchmarks for the franchise with its record-breaking success, “The Final Reckoning” is also known as one of the priciest films ever made, requiring a staggering $400 million to bring it to the big screen.
A significant portion of the high expenses was attributable to the difficulties brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic, labor disputes in the industry, and rising prices.
According to David A Gross from Franchise Entertainment Research, this new movie, The Final Reckoning, has a promising start due to its strong international business. However, he cautions that the production costs are incredibly high, so it might struggle to turn a profit. Unfortunately, there were unexpected delays during the filming process.
As a devoted fan, I can’t help but get excited about diving back into the world of action thrillers, where I join Tom Cruise yet again, embodying the legendary Ethan Hunt on another high-stakes mission. This time around, Ethan is hot on the trail of a menacing rogue AI, which goes by the name of the Entity.
In my recent 3-star review, Digital Spy points out that “The Final Reckoning” manages to rise above its complex plot thanks to its light-hearted approach. Although Ethan and his IMF crew are up against some serious stakes, it doesn’t stop the movie from having a good time throughout the adventure.
Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning may not provide a flawless farewell for Ethan Hunt, but should his journey conclude here, he can rest assured that he hasn’t cheated fans out of an exceptional finale.
Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning is in cinemas now.
