“BBC viewers are in for a treat”: An exciting new Manchester-set series is on the way – you won’t want to miss
The BBC has greenlit a fresh comedy show called “Small Prophets” from the creator behind “Alma’s Not Normal“.
The six-episode show, based in Manchester, introduces us to Pearce Quigley’s character, Michael Sleep, an unusual individual whose world turned upside down when his beloved Clea vanished mysteriously, leaving him to live a mundane life for the past seven years.
He munches on Shredded Wheat cereal, has a job at a home improvement shop, pays a visit to his father Brian, and is longing for Clea’s return.

Things remained as they were, until one day Dad Brian decided to reveal an ancient recipe, which incorporated rainwater, horse manure, and a touch of alchemy.
With a recipe clutched tightly, Michael embarks on a journey (though tinged with doubt) to craft Homunculi – mystical oracles capable of foretelling the future – in the belief they might provide him an answer to his pressing question: ‘Will I ever meet Clea again?’
Michael seeks assistance from his unconventional coworker Kacey, a friendship that unexpectedly grows, with part of it stemming from their shared antipathy towards the store manager, Gordon.
As a gamer, I can’t help but notice the buzz among my curious neighbors. They seem to be constantly peeking, trying to unravel the mystery that unfolds in my humble garden shed. The bond between us gamers only fuels their intrigue and curiosity, adding an extra layer of excitement to our shared hobby.
The animated series titled “Small Prophets” boasts impressive animation aspects and has assembled an equally impressive cast. This includes Mackenzie Crook from The Office, Sir Michael Palin, Lauren Patel, Sophie Willan, and Jon Pointing.
As well as starring as store manager Gordon, Crook is writing and directing the series.
He mentioned that this concept, much like many of his finest ideas, has been simmering for close to a decade. Now, it’s ripe for exposure, as he put it in a declaration.
I’m delighted to team up once more with Gill Isles, Pearce Quigley, and it’s an exciting realization that we can work together on a project I’ve long aspired for – collaborating with talented animators like Ainslie Henderson and Will Anderson.
Producer Gill Isles, who is handling both Alma’s Not Normal and Small Prophets, expressed her excitement about collaborating with Mackenzie once more on this witty, lovely, and distinctive series.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’d put it like this: “I can’t wait for the BBC audience to experience the genius of BAFTA-winning actor Mackenzie Crook in his new series, ‘Small Prophets’. It promises to be a real treat!
This enchanting sitcom is filled with clever humor and awe-inspiring elements, featuring the talents of Mackenzie, Sir Michael Palin, Sophie Willan, Pearce Quigley, Lauren Patel, and Jon Pointing. The production team behind it is top-notch, and the animation is simply breathtaking. This is British comedy at its pinnacle.
