Nail’s Hidden Power: The Battle That Could Have Ended Vegeta!

As an avid fan, it’s a thrill to reflect upon how Dragon Ball continues to break new grounds and captivate audiences like never before. The journey of this iconic series from its humble beginnings to its current expansive universe is nothing short of amazing. The introduction of Dragon Ball Z marked a significant milestone, but one of the most exhilarating arcs takes us to the distant Planet Namek, where our heroes seek the elusive Dragon Balls. This planet becomes a battleground for competing forces, all vying for the coveted treasure. These episodes not only reveal groundbreaking facts about the Saiyans, but also shed light on Piccolo’s Namekian people, adding depth and richness to the series.

For a while, Vegeta significantly advances in his quest for immortality using the Namekian Dragon Balls. As he reaches Grand Elder Guru’s residence, he encounters Krillin and Gohan. They all briefly cross paths with Nail, but neither fully understands the other’s worth as they’re both engrossed in their own matters. Vegeta’s self-assurance is at its peak, yet he wouldn’t have fared as well against Nail compared to his encounters with the rest of Namek’s inhabitants. If Vegeta ever needed Nail’s help or dared to confront him, it could have led to a premature end for Vegeta.

Nail Is One Of Dragon Ball Z’s Strongest Heroes When He’s Introduced

Nail’s Power Level Puts Many Of Dragon Ball’s Strongest To Shame At This Point

In the world of Dragon Ball, the power dynamics have become so extreme that it’s challenging to make accurate predictions about characters’ strength levels. Before the introduction of Super Saiyan, there was a certain cap on characters’ power, and a general hierarchy could be established. For instance, in most cases, a standard Saiyan would outmatch a standard Namekian. This hierarchy provided a sense of order within the series.

Indeed, there are Warrior-Type and Dragon Clan Namekians, with the latter focusing more on healing and creating Dragon Balls rather than combat. On the other hand, Saiyans have different classes signifying varying levels of strength and abilities. Even a Low-Class Saiyan might overpower a Warrior-Type Namekian in a fight. Vegeta has no difficulty inflicting destruction on numerous Namekian villages. There’s never any indication that Vegeta feels fear towards Namekians, and he probably holds Nail in the same contempt when they momentarily encounter each other.

On Planet Namek, the strongest Namekian is referred to as Nail. However, it’s surprisingly low that his power level doesn’t even reach the average level of a typical Dragon Ball character, which is around 30,000 at this point in the story. Vegeta, on the other hand, significantly increases his power level thanks to his Zenkai boosts after visiting Earth. He starts at 18,000, then rises to 24,000, and eventually reaches approximately 30,000 when he defeats Zarbon. Regardless, this is far from the level of Nail, and Vegeta would struggle to keep up in a fight.

Compared to another instance, members of the Ginyu Force named Recoome, Burter, and Jeice had approximately 45,000 power levels. Vegeta was easily overpowered by Recoome, suggesting that if he were to fight Nail, the outcome would likely be the same or even more severe since Nail is more mature and focused. Unlike Recoome, Nail doesn’t waste time playing around or humiliating weaker opponents. Additionally, Nail possesses Namekian regeneration and other advantageous abilities that could make his victory over Vegeta more decisive.

The Full Extent Of Nail’s Power Is Never Seen

Nail Only Gets To Participate In A Single Fight That’s Impossible For Him To Win

Among the characters on Namek, Nail, boasting a power level of 42,000, stands as one of the strongest and could potentially cause substantial harm under the right circumstances. Often, people tend to misjudge Nail’s actual strength, assuming that Vegeta is superior due to Nail not often showcasing his might. However, it was only during his fight against Frieza, with an initial power level of 530,000 in his first form alone, that we got a glimpse of Nail’s true potential.

Frieza annihilates Nail, leaving him for dead and making him appear as ordinary as any standard Namekian. However, a defeat like this would have befallen any of the Dragon Ball Z heroes at that stage, particularly Vegeta. Despite his crushing loss, Nail later becomes a crucial character and provides enough power enhancement to enable him to stand toe-to-toe against Frieza’s second form, boasting a million in power level. The most compelling evidence of Nail’s might is demonstrated by the strength that Piccolo gains, but even this diminishes his individual prowess.

It’d be intriguing to witness Nail facing off against Burter and Jeice to spice up the aftermath of the Ginyu Force. Nail’s passive demeanor on the battlefield stems from his deep commitment as the Grand Elder Guru’s bodyguard. He wouldn’t dream of abandoning the Guru, and his duty is primarily about safeguarding this respected figure, rather than engaging in combat with potential threats.

Nail refrains from attacking Vegeta upon their first encounter because Vegeta doesn’t pose an immediate danger to the venerable Grand Elder. In this scenario, it would have been unnecessary to instigate a conflict, as it could potentially endanger Nail. Moreover, Nail might have benefited from more tasks or at least the Grand Elder could have shared that he had elevated Nail’s potential to unprecedented levels.

Vegeta’s Experience & Cutthroat Nature Wouldn’t Save Him Against Nail

Nail Would Trump Vegeta’s Greatest Tricks

Upon his debut on Earth and initiating war with the Z-Fighters, he had already demonstrated strength and ruthlessness. However, upon reaching Namek, his power and cruelty had significantly escalated. Vegeta struggles to accept anyone being stronger than him, fueling his anger and ego which at times propel him beyond his limits. Nonetheless, the difference in power between Nail and Vegeta remains too vast.

It’s likely that Vegeta has more combat experience due to his years of training since he was young, and because he’s destroyed planets before. His Zenkai boosts also allow him to significantly increase his power. However, Nail’s strength and Namekian abilities give him an edge. Regenerating lost limbs is one of Nail’s key advantages. Moreover, Nail can transform into a Super Giant-Form, which could potentially match up against Great Ape Vegeta in a fight.

The enhanced power that assuming the Great Ape form provides could prove crucial in this situation, but it doesn’t guarantee victory for Vegeta, especially if Nail is well-versed in Saiyan biology and focuses on attacking Vegeta’s tail as a weak spot. In fact, the most promising strategy for Vegeta to defeat Nail might be by threatening Grand Elder Guru, given that such an action could potentially disrupt Nail’s battle tactics.

In other words, Vegeta can’t overpower Nail using brute force alone, as it might lead him into a tough predicament by attacking someone he cares about. However, his feisty and ruthless behavior during the Namek Saga is captivatingly amusing, yet he is far from being able to defeat the strongest Namekian on Namek.
