Fear Street: Prom Queen’s Canceled Post-Credits Scene Would Have Blown Your Mind!
The recently released Netflix movie, titled “Fear Street: Prom Queen“, offers an enormous post-credit twist – one that might have had even more impact if expanded upon.
Warning – The rest of this article contains spoilers for Fear Street: Prom Queen.
In the film, we trace the storyline of a clique of high school girls in 1988, each vying for the honor of Prom Queen. However, as the night unfolds, instead of the usual festivities, one by one, they meet their demise. By the end of the movie, it’s unveiled that these murders were meticulously orchestrated by the Falconer family, with the intention of ensuring that Tiffany (Fina Strazza) would ultimately win the crown.
It’s fortunate that this time, the sinister murdering clan doesn’t succeed in their actions, as they meet the same grim fate as their victims. Yet, there seems to be more at play here, a link that ties back to earlier movies.
The Alternate Fear Street: Prom Queen Post-Credits Scene That Connected Everything
It Had “One of the Actors From the First Movie Coming Back…”
The most exciting revelation occurs following the movie’s conclusion, as Prom Queen treats viewers to an unexpected scene during the credits. This quick clip finds Nancy Falconeer (Katherine Waterson) lying dead on the floor, her blood collecting around the Devil’s Mark—a symbol pivotal in the original Netflix Fear Street trilogy.
The identical emblem can be found on the cover of Solomon Goode’s ancient grimoire, the one that was purloined during the end credits of Fear Street Part 3: 1666.
During an interview with Russ Milheim from TopMob, Fear Street: Prom Queen director Matt Palmer shared that an extended post-credit sequence had initially been conceived, which included the return of a recognizable character.
Matt Palmer proposed an idea reminiscent of a 1990s movie titled “Satanic Panic.” In the initial script, one actor from the first film was set to return. The plot revolved around the Falconers attempting to eliminate the Prom Queens through occult practices, but their plan backfired, leading them to resort to traditional methods, such as physical violence.
As a movie enthusiast, let me share that we intentionally left out the post-credit scene due to several factors. This leaves us dangling on a genetic strand, if you will. However, I’m excited about the concept of another creator picking up the thread and connecting the narrative of this film more closely with our earlier movies in the 1990s timeline.
Fear Street: Prom Queen Director Matt Palmer Explains That Big Finale Reveal
“It’s Definitely a Standalone Film,” But One That Has Small Connections
- TopMob: “Can you talk about fleshing out that big twist, but also just how you strung clues throughout the movie so that you know once that happened, you were like, Oh, that makes sense.”
Matt Palmer’s concept was essentially: It’s as if the solution is staring us in the face yet remains obscure. To illustrate, consider the earlier conversation where they express their strong desire for Tiffany to win, implying that it must be them, correct? Yet, we hope to explore numerous alternative paths. We thought, why not be audacious and place the answer directly before the audience, only for them to forget about it temporarily, then revisit it.
However, to clarify, much of what was promised seems more like distractions… What grabbed my attention was when Dan Falconer (Chris Klein) seized the drink from the student and gulped it down. Initially, I may have seemed a little eccentric as a teacher because he’s now facing Megan, the principal’s office, effectively demonstrating a slightly unhinged demeanor. Yet, the reason he’s so agitated in that moment is due to his nerves – you see, although he appears to be a wild card on the surface, he’s actually hiding a more sinister secret: he’s involved in some undercover activities, possibly even harming people.
