In a surprising shift, Marvel Studios has postponed the release of “Avengers: Doomsday” from the upcoming summer season.
The eagerly awaited new Avengers film is now being made, but it won’t hit theaters until December 18, 2026. Its sequel, titled “Avengers: Secret Wars,” has also been delayed and will be released on December 17, 2027.
Instead of diving back into the heat of Avengers: Doomsday, I’ll be eagerly anticipating my return to the fashion-forward world with The Devil Wears Prada 2 hitting the big screen on May 1st, 2026!
As per Deadline’s report, the release dates of both Avengers films have been postponed to grant additional production time. Notably, these films are said to be among the largest ever produced.
At the present moment, it’s uncertain if “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” scheduled for release on July 31, 2026, will change its date due to the postponement of “Avengers: Doomsday.

The most recent Spider-Man film that came out following a significant Avengers movie was Spider-Man: Far From Home, and it had strong ties to the storyline of Avengers: Endgame.
If the events in “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” are closely connected with those in “Avengers: Doomsday”, there could potentially be a delay.
It could be that Spider-Man’s latest adventure has no connection to “Avengers: Doomsday,” as Tom Holland is not part of the confirmed cast for the next Avengers film. Any delays would likely be announced by Sony, not Marvel.

The fact that the release date for Avengers: Doomsday has been pushed back while it’s still in production suggests that Marvel is refocusing its efforts on its forthcoming projects, demonstrating a renewed commitment to its lineup.
Recently, Disney’s CEO, Bob Iger, acknowledged that the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has been producing too much content across Phases 4 and 5. He further explained, “By narrowing things down a bit and allowing Marvel to concentrate more on their movies, we believe this will lead to improved quality.
Avengers: Doomsday is released in cinemas on 18 December 2026.
