Elizabeth Sobinoff Exposes the Truth Behind Her Exit from Reality TV Fame!
Married at First Sight star Elizabeth ‘Lizzie’ Sobinoff has revealed why she left the spotlight.
On a Friday, I, a devoted follower, posted a funny Instagram Reel on my Stories, originating from the 2011 movie “Bridesmaids.” Accompanying it was this caption: “Perspective: Me, drifting away after departing a gathering brimming with insincere dialogues.
Lizzie, aged 34, voiced her personal insights following a short-lived venture into the world of influence, triggered by her appearances on MAFS in both 2019 and 2020.
She described how it felt when she attended perhaps five influencer events that she’s ever attended, which she then shared with her 370,000 followers.
In her subsequent post, Lizzie stated that she doesn’t identify as an influencer in the same way many reality TV celebrities do after appearing on their respective shows, and then disclosed her reasons for this stance.
‘And no, I’m not what most people would call an influencer,’ she continued.

I spent five minutes on that activity, but it didn’t appeal to me. The reason people follow me is primarily due to the success of the TV show.
In the sixth season, Lizzie earned the title ‘Australia’s Most Confident Bride’ after a series of unfortunate pairings with groom Sam Ball. It was also whispered that she received a payment of $100,000 from Channel Nine when she reappeared in the seventh season.
New Idea stated that the ex-retail store manager received an impressive sum as a payment for a four-week stint during season seven, while the rest of the cast earned $150 per day.
Previously known for her stint on reality television, she is currently blissfully wedded to her partner Alex Vega, an engineer. They are parents to a vibrant 18-month-old daughter and a freshly arrived son, who made his way into the world in April.
In Lizzie’s initial stint on Married at First Sight, her professional title was ‘Store Manager’. However, when she returned for a subsequent season, her role had changed to simply being a ‘MAFS contestant’.
In April 2019, she signed with celebrity talent agency CGM Talent, which no longer exists.
I’m really looking forward to sharing that I’ll be collaborating with @ctmgroupau for everything related to management. I can hardly wait to work with a team who shares my vision! If you have any enquiries regarding MGMT, TV, radio or brand collaborations, feel free to send a direct message to the team, or email them at talent@ctmgroupau.com,” Lizzie wrote on Instagram at the time.
Lizzie partnered with brands such as Booby Tape, Sculpt, Tan Tootie, and Tribe Skincare.

Most of her posts didn’t have a promotional hashtag because it wasn’t compulsory under Australian law at the time, but they frequently contained discount codes instead.
Presumably, Lizzie was paid for her posts and also for the use of her discount codes.
After giving birth to her daughter in 2023, Lizzie decided to limit her activity on her social media account due to the frequent negativity she encounters on Instagram.
She mentioned that her ability to comment has been restricted recently, largely due to the characteristic of social media platforms which often foster negativity, although not always, but certainly have the potential to do so.
‘I love to post BUT I have set boundaries…. And that’s not a bad thing.’
In April 2024, she additionally used social media platforms to shield Married at First Sight brides from negative comments regarding their looks.
She mentioned that she had come across an Instagram post discussing a participant who provided intricate insights about a woman from the latest season of Married at First Sight, focusing specifically on her facial features.
As someone who has participated in Married at First Sight twice, I can confidently say that the individuals involved are just that – people. It’s crucial to remember that subjecting them to scrutiny and criticism about their physical appearances is not only unfair but also potentially damaging to their mental health. They are real people with feelings, and such actions may cause them to see themselves in a negative light. Let’s show empathy and respect instead.

Lizzie said, “I haven’t followed this girl’s story, but what bothers me is that people seem to forget she’s human with feelings. It’s hurtful for me, given my own past experiences where I was harshly judged by the PUBLIC.
In her profession, she believes the goal is to boost someone’s self-confidence and make them feel positive. However, she finds it counterproductive if this is just done for increased views. She made this point.
2019’s Married At First Sight saw Sam Ball notoriously body-shame Lizzie in one of the episodes.
On the reality show, he admitted, “To tell you the truth, I haven’t had relationships with women as large as Elizabeth. This seems to be a sensitive matter for her, something she’s dealt with before.
In my role as a lifestyle advisor, I found myself facing controversy when I shared my intentions to assist Lizzie with her weight management journey following our televised wedding.
He commented, “She has a stunning visage… Perhaps I’ll persuade her for morning jogs… I’m certain she’ll adapt well to it, and we’ll manage to motivate her.
Lizzie and Seb Guilhaus developed an instant connection during Lizzie’s second appearance on MAFS in 2020, and they continued their relationship beyond the show, but ultimately split up in 2021.
