Adolescence season 2? Stephen Graham teases ideas for a follow-up
As a dedicated gamer, I’m thrilled to share some exciting news about my favorite game, Adolescence. Stephen Graham, one of its key characters, has hinted at the potential for a second season! In his own words, he mentioned that a sequel could indeed be in the works. Fingers crossed, fellow gamers!
This Netflix drama garners much praise as it centers around 13-year-old Jamie Miller, portrayed by Owen Cooper, following his arrest under suspicion of killing his classmate Katie Leonard. The narrative explores not only Jamie’s personal journey but also that of his family and the larger community in which they live.
Graham, who plays Jamie’s dad Eddie on the show, has been frequently asked about possible future installments since it premiered in March. However, during a chat with Variety, he hinted at where the storyline might head next.

Graham indicated that there was still a chance… Were we to repeat the experience, would I be eager to do so, perhaps with an entirely new narrative? Absolutely.” And to clarify, Graham discussed his decision not to focus on the family of the victim in the story’s development.
In simpler terms, he said, “If this were a traditional play, you’d view it from Katie’s point of view and witness the consequences of her family’s actions. However, we’ve already seen that scenario multiple times. What we haven’t shown before is this unique perspective.
Graham, a collaborator with Jack Thorne on the show, additionally discussed the extraordinary commercial triumph of the four-episode series. This drama surpassed the streamer’s ratings in an impressive 93 nations, securing the top spot in each.
He mentioned that the tale was crafted with great care as a small, British story, and he found this to be its charm. Unexpectedly, it reached beyond its limits, but we remained genuine. I believe it achieved such widespread success because it was created with honesty, integrity, respect, and a great deal of affection.
The actor expressed that it surpassed all expectations. Originally, it was a one-of-a-kind experience. We directly connected with the spirit of the times. It has spread worldwide. In fact, it reached No. 1 in Brazil and No. 1 in Saudi Arabia, he remarked, who also contributed as an executive producer.
According to Graham, his views align with those of his wife and co-executive producer Hannah Walters, as they both express doubt about the feasibility of a prequel series, even though they acknowledge that the one-shot directing format still has great potential for more content.
Adolescence is streaming on Netflix.
