John Krasinski and Cast Reveal Indiana Jones’ Impact, Eiza González Defends Disney Classics!
When “The Fountain of Youth” hits the big screen in 2025, I’m sure many will experience a wave of nostalgia for the adventure films they loved as children. With that thought in mind, I reached out to the film’s stars – John Krasinski, Natalie Portman, Domhnall Gleeson, and Eiza González – about the movies from this genre that had the biggest impact on them. Interestingly, “Indiana Jones” was a popular pick among them, but Eiza González made a compelling argument for including Disney films in our list as well.

Indiana Jones Was The Common Response When I Asked About Formative Adventure Films
As a child, movies like “National Treasure” ignited my imagination and fueled my love for adventure. Now, Guy Ritchie’s “The Fountain of Youth” seems poised to captivate a new generation in the same way. So, when I got the opportunity to interview John Krasinski and Natalie Portman, who star as siblings in this upcoming Apple TV+ release, I was curious to learn about their own favorite action/adventure films from their childhood.
The Office actor was quick to answer with some of the best action movies ever, saying:
As a child, movies like Indiana Jones and The Goonies, especially those by Steven Spielberg, sparked my imagination. They ignited a dream within me – a desire to step into these enchanting worlds and join the characters. Now, as an adult, being part of a film I once pretended to be in feels nothing short of extraordinary and incredibly surreal.
Portman concurred wholeheartedly with her fellow actor’s viewpoint, much like how The Fountain of Youth shares tales of grand adventures and brave heroes, both Indiana Jones and The Goonies do the same.
As a cinephile, I found that Indiana Jones was frequently brought up among the cast members when asked about favorite films. This wasn’t surprising, as both Krasinski and Portman acknowledged it, and even Domhnall Gleeson confided in me that it’s one of his favorites too.
I’ve discussed Indiana Jones quite extensively, and let me tell you, it’s one of the favorites for me; the movie, its entire concept, and the acting were simply captivating. To be honest, there’s another film that stirred my heart around the same time – Jurassic Park. I was on the cusp of my teenage years when I watched it, and I found it absolutely mind-blowing. So, you could say those two movies left a lasting impression.
When I imagine timeless adventure movies, my mind instantly conjures up Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones, followed closely by the dinosaurs from Jurassic Park, the gang from The Goonies, and Nicolas Cage’s character in National Treasure. But let me tell you, those are all live-action films. Eiza González made a compelling point about why some animated classics deserve a spot on this list as well.

However, Eiza González Made A Great Point About Disney Movies
In my previous statement, when I inquired about this topic to Eiza González, her response veered off the beaten path. Although she brought up live-action films like “The Mummy” and “Tomb Raider”, she also emphasized that a key element of an adventure movie is a narrative focusing on companions embarking on a voyage and discovering something about themselves and the world in the process. Consequently, it’s essential to incorporate some top Disney animated masterpieces into this list as well, according to her viewpoint.
Similarly to me, we might consider movies such as The Mummy and Tomb Raider, along with the Thomas Crown Affair which is both an exciting adventure and a romance. However, it’s essential not to overlook films from Disney, like Aladdin or The Lion King, that offer thrilling adventures. In essence, these are stories where you embark on journeys with friends, seeking the greater good. Indeed, Disney excels in this area, and I was raised on such tales.
You know, I’ve always found myself captivated by the magic of animated movies like Aladdin and The Lion King, among others. Just as González mentioned, these films are more than just cartoons; they’re formative pieces in my cinematic journey.
Over the years, these movies have captivated children as they matured, much like the adventures of Indiana Jones, they present us with some extraordinarily heroic and awe-inspiring narratives.
