Jimmy Fallon’s Embarrassing Mario Kart Date with Nicole Kidman Revealed

Back in the day, I couldn’t help but be smitten by the radiant Nicole Kidman. During our notorious, fateful encounter, I tried to charm her in an unconventional way – with a friendly round of Mario Kart on my trusty Nintendo console!

50-year-old alumnus of SNL (Saturday Night Live) made an awkward confession during a broadcast of The Tonight Show on Tuesday night.

Isabela Merced, known from “The Last of Us,” playfully teased the talk show host for stumbling over a chance encounter with an A-list celebrity.

The events started unfolding as Fallon shared his thoughts on how The Last of Us ranks among the most terrifying video games he has ever experienced.

As the lifestyle guru I am, referencing my role on the HBO Max series, I posed a question to Merced, ‘Was that the strategy you employed during your disastrous date with the radiant Nicole Kidman, the one that left us all in awe?’

Jimmy paused briefly before playfully remarking, “Nice to meet you! I’m afraid our time is up,” feigning an early conclusion to the interview.

Following a shared chuckle, the actress continued the conversation by asking if the game they had engaged in during their somewhat awkward date was “The Last of Us.

Fallon disagreed and revealed that both he and Kidman had actually played Mario Kart on Nintendo. 

The crowd burst into laughter during the conversation, and the late-night talk show host thanked Isabela for raising the topic!

Later, Merced shared with Jimmy that her most cherished moment from the show occurred when Nicole narrated her awkward dating incident, which took place when she was a guest on The Tonight Show in 2015.

In that moment, the star narrated the incident and clarified that his friend had phoned him to mention he would be dropping off Kidman at his residence.

Fallon believed there might be a connection to him being cast in Bewitched alongside the actress, yet it was the comedian whom Nicole held a romantic interest in.

After that, the actor from Moulin Rouge remarked, “I approached you, but you were wearing a baseball cap with no other attire, and you refused to speak. You remained silent.

Then, you chose to play a video game, perhaps, and I responded with disapproval, saying something like, “This is terrible.” You remained silent throughout.

After a little over an hour and a half, I realized there was no connection, it felt awkward. I left thinking, ‘No chemistry here.’ Then I wondered if maybe he is gay.

Jimmy, unaware that it was a date, exclaimed, “I’m absolutely stunned! I never thought I would go out with Nicole Kidman. This is just amazing!

Later on, he shared with Variety that the 2015 interview was unforeseen. It wasn’t part of a prepared script, and there was no prior review of questions.

‘It was a legitimate moment, a real awkward moment. I was embarrassed, and she was embarrassed.’ 

In the year 2016, Nicole made another appearance on The Tonight Show – this time she disclosed that he had declined her second proposal for a date.

She shared that they were both present at David Fincher’s home for a gathering, and they patiently awaited Fallon to request her phone number.

The beauty expressed, “Back when Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston were still an item, which was quite some time ago, you had the chance to ask for my contact details, but you chose not to. You missed that opportunity.

After everyone left, we remained hidden in the kitchen, and I was patiently waiting… and waiting… and waiting. This feeling of waiting certainly rings true, doesn’t it?

On The Howard Stern radio program, Fallon shared his reasons for turning down the actress’s advances on two occasions.

On the subject of our initial meeting at his apartment, the comedian reminisced, “She enters, and I feel a flutter of nerves. She’s stunningly beautiful. Without doubt, the most attractive individual ever to step foot in my apartment.

However, I’m striving to maintain a professional demeanor – a quality that would make it appealing for us to work together on a film set for a span of three months.

Yet, what unfolded was them both participating in a game of Mario Kart, unbeknownst to her, she harbored feelings for him.

During a chat with Deadline last year, he confessed that Kidman unexpectedly took him off guard on his television program.

He remarked, ‘Our conversation centered around one of her films, which she was set to receive an accolade for. She was impressive and stunning, and as we chatted, she casually mentioned, “Perhaps you didn’t know, but we used to date.”‘

The star further expressed, ‘My face just melted. It was the most embarrassing thing.’ 

Despite their unsuccessful first outing, Jimmy eventually tied the knot with Nancy Juvonen in 2007, and they have since become proud parents to two lovely kids – Winnie (age 11) and Frances (age 10).

In 2006, I was fortunate enough to find love and exchange vows with Keith Urban at the picturesque Cardinal Cerretti Memorial Chapel in Sydney, Australia.

The duo has two children: Sunday (age 16) and Faith (age 14). Additionally, Nicole is a mother to Bella (age 32) and Connor (age 30), whom she adopted with her former partner, Tom Cruise.
