On May 29, 2025, Vans will launch its newest Artist Collection, a collaboration with acclaimed Japanese artist Yusuke Hanai. This collection, inspired by Hanai’s connections to ’50s-’70s surf and counterculture, brings together the nostalgia of the West Coast with the elegance of Japan.
The centerpiece of this collection is a unique Premium Old Skool shoe in a “Stormy Weather” gray colorway. This shoe showcases Hanai’s original artwork, intricate hand-drawn details, and an inspiring message, “One Foot In Front Of The Other,” etched into the midsole.
In this design process, we prioritize sustainability significantly, utilizing earth-friendly materials such as renewable canvas for upper parts, biodegradable foam for insoles derived from organic sources, organic cotton T-shirts, and recycled polyester throughout our product line. Our collection encompasses various items including graphic tees, shorts, caps, and reversible tote bags, all adorned with Hanai’s distinctive whimsical artwork.
On May 28th, there’s going to be a unique celebration happening at the Vans Store in Harajuku. This party will showcase a live performance by the alternative rock band Texas 3000, along with DJ Katoman. Plus, the first 50 attendees who make a purchase will receive signed postcards. The pre-sales for this event will kick off during the party itself, before it’s available to everyone else through Vans stores and selected retailers at a later date.
