Mirage of a simple win: HEROIC eliminated FaZe and s1mple from IEM Dallas 2025

As a gamer myself, I must admit that my comeback to top-tier CS2 esports with FaZe wasn’t as smooth as I had hoped, s1mple here. The highs have been great, but the lows have been tougher than expected. We seem to stumble occasionally and struggle to regain our footing. It’s a rollercoaster ride, that’s for sure.

Enthusiasts eagerly anticipated a triumphant comeback. The whole Counter-Strike community watched the FaZe games closely, keeping tabs on how s1mple would fare after his extended absence.

The outcome has been unstable, given the latest performances of CS2 FaZe Clan. Upon reflection, it’s quite reasonable to assume this. After all, even exceptional players require time and team familiarization to perform optimally.

In a surprising turn of events, the performance of s1mple escalated from decent to extraordinarily impressive, only to subsequently dip back down to an average level that’s less than expected for someone of his talent.

At the Intel Extreme Masters Dallas 2025, I’m sadly out of the running after three grueling group stage matches. My only victory was against BC.Game Esports, but alas, it wasn’t enough to keep us in the game. We were ultimately knocked out by HEROIC. It was a tough fight, but we gave it our all.

HEROIC 2:1 FaZe

Many felt that FaZe was invincible. But surprisingly, it seemed like HEROIC managed to outdo them.

Two fresh faces joined the team this time around, and one of them is none other than Felipe “Skullz” Medeiros, who took the spot of Rain on FaZe during IEM Dallas 2025. However, it’s worth noting that Skullz is currently not actively participating with FURIA.

FaZe Clash had previously been defeated by Team Liquid, which relegated them to the tournament’s elimination round. However, their second game was a win: 2-0 against BC.Game Esports. Unfortunately, HEROIC proved to be an opponent that FaZe couldn’t conquer in the end.

Ancient

Initially, Map 1 didn’t favor FaZe Clan, as they ended the first half tied at 6-6 with their opponents. However, upon switching to the CT side, HEROIC took over, and FaZe appeared to be an entirely transformed team.

In my eyes, it was Karrigan who truly shone during their triumphs in Ancient. He consistently secured kills and essentially bore the weight of FaZe’s victories on his shoulders.

Anubis

map two didn’t go well for FaZe; on the contrary, it was exceptionally successful for HEROIC. Following a period of adjustment, they displayed incredible dominance, overwhelming their opponents.

In the first match, s1mple’s kill-death ratio was -4 and his average damage per round (ADR) was 55.1, but in the second game, these figures changed to a -3 K/D and 56.3 ADR. However, his influence on the matches wasn’t substantial, as it seemed like HEROIC players were cautious against this renowned player and developed an effective strategy against FaZe.

Mirage: HEROIC vs FaZe at IEM Dallas 2025

Initially, Map 3 served as an extension of the prior contest for FaZe. Towards the finale, they hinted at a resurgence, but unfortunately, their performance on Mirage was lackluster. On the other hand, HEROIC disregarded notable players and managed to claim victory in this round. They maintained their resolve even during overtime.

s1mple could achieve 71.7 ADR, but his K/D numbers fell to -5.

Heroic will need to conquer Aurora Gaming to secure a spot in the playoffs at IEM Dallas 2025. Aurora emerged victorious shortly after PGL Astana 2025, having knocked out Team Liquid in the lower bracket of Group B.

FaZe Clan with s1mple in the roster will compete at the soon-coming BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025.
